Does anyone here think that, at some point, Keima's past will be featured in the manga?

If you think about it, so far, the manga never revealed why Keima dislike girls (or reality) in the first place, or his reasons to playing video games as well.

Here are some theories that I could think explain Keima's behavior:

One, he could have actually been in love with a girl at some point, but that girl rejected him for various reasons, causing him to become distance and cynical.

Another theory is that Keima's lack of interests in girls may have been traumatic for him in the past, such as when his hobby was revealed, and was poked fun by this as a result.

Well, those are the only ones I could think of at the moment.

Hmm... good theories, i was thinking the same thing about Keima having some kind of truma. Well, in any case i think he'll break out of this game playing thing soon because hes starting to see the real for the first time because he's still catching spirts and will experience different girls eyes

I think Keima will evolve and we will see a whole new Keima and a whole other level biggrin

I think so too. The way he interacts with the real girls, is somewhat cold. But because of his unenviable task to capture demons, he slowly open his heart to the real girls. But still, it will just eat up his belief "2D girls are the best".

Really want to see Keima's past hehe.

An underlying reason for his candid, disinterested attitude would really disappoint me.

I'd like to believe that he's a natural recluse. Like when Jun thought Keima was running away from reality. I interpreted Keima's outburst something akin to "Why can't it be that I just happen to like games more than people?"

And I like how this manga portrays situations satirically and parodies various romance scenarios in games/manga. Having a past trauma would close the gap TWGOK created. It would be no different than the games/manga that it pokes fun at.

Knowing the standard stereotypical setup, he was probably the smartest kid in the room. This isolated him from others early on, leading to frequent bullying. To cope with it, he discovered gaming, particularly dating sims, which gave him a substitute for social interaction that he could control.

Of course it could just as easily be that his parents got him a gameboy but the only game they could find was a dating sim and he got hooked ever since. Really though, an explanation for his obsession really is unnecessary. It is better that he remain eternally unrepentant about his passion for dating sims. It is after all what makes him happy and who are we to judge him for liking games more than people?

We got a little insight of his past already... here is my theory

Keima is/was quite smart when he was a kid, and often asked himself what was worth of reality? I mean think about it, he can do almost anything reality has to offer with little effort at all (psychical stuff is not his forth, but he manages quite well)... as such the Real world became a rather dull and boring world... then he found out about gaming... several worlds with different structures and setups, always with new worlds to explore and a never ending flow of plots and characters... (He had several gameboys, so I don't think he played galges when he was a kid)...

Later on, he found Galges with games where more based on his decisions and actions than any other kind of game (jRPGs are a developming history in with you can't do much more than advance... some little changes can be made, but that doesn't change the fact that your actions through the game, have little effect in the outcome), with Galges every action, every line of text has an effect in the outcome, and as such Keima feels more in control of this world and the amount of them (with different backgrounds and ect) ensure a never ending supply of games, and ensure that he never gets bored.

People I don't think he has a trauma or anything, that would be bad, because Keima is portrayed as the SUPER smart kid that finds reality too boring...

and I have to say THAT is the case... if you are good for everything then life turns out to be very boring and dull...and video games become the only interesting thing the world has to offer...

I used to be a little like Keima, but I found out all the things I was missing out because my obsession with games, and corrected that as soon as I could bigrazz
