Hi, just read some posts on the kenshin thread and i think most of the people here have no clue on chinese culture or about the original novel, i would just like to share what i know.
The original novel was posted onto a chinese novel sharing site where anyone can post their work on there. And yes, kenshin is extremely famous in Taiwan, and the kensin in the manga do mean the real thing.
About the copyright issue that everyone is concerned, i think Yu Wo originally just wrote this story for fun, since this was her first novel, and i bet she didn't really think about the copyrights issue.
By the time she finished the novel, it was so popular that the site has published her work as the hard copy novel book, and after a while, the manga comes out.
By the way, just you may not yet know, the author, Yu Wo, is from Taiwan, which is hugely influence by the Japanese culture.
I would check her blog later and see if i can put up some more later.

Yes, thanks for the information!!!! I have a few general questions about Half Prince, if you don't mind:
1. From what's been scanlated so far, about how far into the novel series are we, would you say? Does each volume of manhua cover a volume of the novel, or is it moving slower than that?
2. According to the site translating the novels, it seems that there is a sequel to Half Prince. Is the sequel on-going, or is it finished? How many volumes is the sequel?
3. About the manhua: I noticed there's only been 5 volumes of this published, but the info page says it's been running since 2004. Is that correct? Does this mean that only a chapter (or less) of this comes out every month?

Hi, firstly sorry about the block of text on the 1st post, i am on my mobile replying, lol.
Just want to let you know first, i myself is from uk, and not having a chance to read the hard copy of the novel, what i read was the online version one, which do not cover the sequel apparently.
The manga (or manhua) reached the end of volume 3 of the novel now, and i think each volume of manga covered half to 2/3 of the novel. The manga version actually missed out lots of details, so i would say it going a bit fast.
as i said above, i don't have a chance to read the hard copy, but wwgat i know is the sequel is done.
i don't know this either, but i guess the manga must be published in a monthly magazine, (the one prince holding in the 1st chapter), so it is a bit slow i guess.
Finally, i just sent an email to Yo Wo the author about this project, she would be delighted i guess.

i don't know this either, but i guess the manga must be published in a monthly magazine, (the one prince holding in the 1st chapter), so it is a bit slow i guess.

The magazine in which the series is published in is called Monthly Dragon Youth (龍少年月刊; 龍=Dragon, 少年=youth/juvenile, and 月刊=monthly). So, the series might take 10 years to finish relating all of the remaining content from the last 5 novels; it might even take more... but let's not talk about that scary subject.

The publication history of the novel is very interesting to me since I've heard of web sites where someone can self-publish their works, but I've never heard of a case where someone actually got famous from it. That's really amazing that Yu Wo actually managed to do it! And you're right: it's really too bad that the manhua skipped Prince's big feminist speech! I felt like being yourself and standing on your own two feet were important themes in this manga, and that speech really sort of summed those ideas up, plus it gave a nice insight into Feng Lan's character. It would've been an important addition to the story if the manhua had kept it.
@Toto: Wow! At least 10 years to finish the rest of the series, huh? Instead of waiting around for that, seems like it would probably be faster if we all learned Chinese and then read the novels for ourselves!

Don't worry, Brid, just check out Prince Revolution and read the translated novel so far then.
By the way, Yu Wo the author did approve their work now, and I was lucky I received the e-mail from the author herself as well, and she said she is pleased her work is translated into English, and saying although she can't physically meet you guys, she is thrilled you guys love her works.

Aw man 10 years is probably the truth.
Only one chapter comes out every month.
5th of every month.
So Dec.5th.2009 was ch.38 then pooy i have to wait till Jan.5th and wait about a week or more for the english.
OMG. But good that I found this manhua so late, i get to read straight through all the way till ch.38. lucky
I'll be good and not complain to much. Well, I'll try.
