Can you add feature that allows us to sort Scanlator's projects based on the rating?
This is very useful because most scanlator tend to specialize on some genre and when they have many projects.
For example: Storm in Heaven (http://www.mangaupdates.com/groups.html?id=109) have a bunch of series, I like one of their manga scanlation and wondering is there any other of their projects that I would like to read.
If we can sort one group's projects by rating; this can be used as a reference and can save a lot of time.
Thanks. smile wink grin

On one hand, this sounds like a good suggestion. On the other hand, how about groups that do avant garde manga, stuff that's not to everyone's taste? Such titles tend to suffer from poor or even bad ratings. How would one sort out all these titles then? How would you tell one title is bad, and the other worthwhile?

This is basically just questioning the ratings system in general. I completely agree with you that it's flawed, but it's not a fixable one. If it's helpful to those in the mainstream, I don't see why it particularly hurts to sort a given group's project by ratings- the rest of us just have to use our own discretion like we always have. It's not like it changes much of anything.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Ahh right, you make some good points there since I didn't think of it like that.

I guess this is a pretty nifty suggestion, then. smile

Generally speaking I agree with Crenshinibon. However, I think icy_heart should go to their site and look around. Seeing the projects sorted as shonen/shoujo/shounen-ai and ongoing/complete/dropped/etc is going to be infinitely more useful than sorting by rating.

I don't have any preferred genre to read actually, so looking their projects based on shoujo, shounen, completed or not is not the point.
Basically the purpose is to look for (probably) the best manga on their project without spending to much time clicking each title and read their description.

Anyway for those who don't know, we can always sort out series genre by rating.
Example: You want to look for the shoujo manga with the highest rating.
1. Click series info
2. Click search by genre
3. Click green box to choose shoujo (or red for shounen ai if you don't want it to be included)
4. Click search: The page will show up with the list of shoujo manga (no shounen-ai)
5. The address bar will show http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?genre=Shoujo& exclude_genre=Shounen%2BAi&perpage=50
6. Add "&orderby=rating" on the address http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?genre=Shoujo& exclude_genre=Shounen%2BAi&perpage=50&orderby =rating and VOILA! you'll get the list of shoujo manga scanlation by rating.

It's just that this can't be used to sort out the rating on a group's project. sad

Yeah, I guess this would be useful for people who utilize the ratings in that way.
But, personally, I don't (ratings don't usually help me decide what I'm going to read; they're more of an "oh, cool, more information about the series" than a means of valuation for me), so I wouldn't find this useful. Nor do I search for stuff to read by scanlators... so it's really not useful in the slightest bit for me.
Others probably don't use my methods, so they may like a feature like this, but, well, I thought I'd give my two cents anyhow.

Or once you get to the list of shoujo manga's, you can just click on "Rating". =)

But besides that, it would be nice idea.
