I've gotten the impression that the adult tag is simply there to indicate content not really suited for kids. I haven't read Btooom! but looking at the categories I see quite a few that I wouldn't let my kids (if i had any) read about, even less look at pictures of...

Yeah, the same as Aremon, I don't / haven't read this, but the tags make it glaringly obvious why it would be tagged with the "adult" genre tag. Violence, Borderline H, Attempted Rape, Attempted Murder, Attempted Suicide, Blood and Gore, Gang Rape.............Jesus Christ, you're asking why there's an "adult" tag on this thing? Holy crap, you'd let your kids read this?

Btooom! has graphic nudity, sex and rape. The sexual violence is also used for fan service. The manga´s violence stands out too of course. That´s why the mature and adult tags have gone hand in hand for years on this entry, as both are equally important in shaping the content of the series. Aka. how Gantz did it. (Just much worse.)

@svines85 Of course not, but I do not like reading something that has a lot of nudity or rape or things like that or something like that

Thank you all for the answer anyway

When looking for stuff that you don't want to read, or things you WANT to read it is more often better to look at the categories than the genre... also make sure to click "Show all (some hidden)".(But beware of spoilers there...)

Ah, fair enough, sorry if I came on too strong, no offense meant, my bad 🙂

Yeah, as Aremon says, look into those categories......God knows I do, (very closely).....before choosing one to try. Especially on longer running works like that one, you can usually get a pretty good idea of what kind of content you're going to run into.

What is the difference between ADULT and MATURE tag?

Mature is for gore, drugs, suicide, rape, some sex, etc. Adult is for the sex-focused manga, where that other stuff is in the background (outside of rape, I guess). A series can also be about both equally, so it´s not an exact science. Tag both then.
Long story short, both are variations on the R rating, with Adult being more of an NC-17.
