I don't really care for the ending, satisfied or not. I just wish it was L that caught Light.

I didn't read the manga but I caught a few episodes of the anime and the way Light just lost all backbone when he was about to die pissed me off. I mean to go and do what he did then to die like that really ruined it for me and I'm not sure I'll read the manga now.

Hm, it was pretty clear from the beginning that Light would fail, the couldn't let a villain win. So I was very surprised that he were able to kill L

This is how I felt. When that happened, I was like "Oh wow, he actually killed him. And with a complex xanatos gambit at that."

But I'll admit, the story after the time skip wasn't as good. What is with manga and always becoming worse after a time skip?

I must admit that, at first, the ending felt disappointing to me. But later I found it the only way to finish it. No matter what you belive what Raito was doing was evil, and Death Note being a shounen, good must triumph in the end.

But I'm pissed off that annoying N beat him!

Please don't link expressions like these anymore. I just spent two hours reading useless crap and spoilering dozens of series I still wanted to watch ;(

Not at all. I thought it served Light right after what happened to L, it was the only way it could have ended. I'm an L fan, but I don't dislike Light (at least until what he did to L mad ). I would of been really disappointed if only one of them went, so it made me kind of satisfied; I would of been pissed if Light didn't get his just deserts. When I think about it, it's kind of ridiculous. They went through all that, just to have them both die. It was really emotional there for awhile though. L died and I was all "NOOOOOOOO! *sob* *sob*" but Light died and that sort of justified it.

Spoilers

I was always rooting for Light. At first I hated L but then I really came to like him. I thought the ending was good and kind of cool. I was depressed for a couple of weeks afterwords though. The main thing that I didn't like was that I really didn't like Near.

was i disappointed? mad YES!!!. light was my favorite character, i actually cried when i finished reading Death Note. He was my favorite character from the beginning, though he became kind of crazy towards the end....
It's like he sacrified his sanity for the greater good.
yeah he might have thought himself some sort of god which if you ask me was his downfall, but in the beginning he started everything with the main goal to do something good in the world.

I agree. I have no problem with L or Light dying and I actually enjoyed the part where L was killed off (even if he was my favorite protagonist?). I even liked the idea of killing off Light in the end using the Death Note.

What I couldn't stand was the execution by the Mangaka. If he was worn down and driven into a corner completely and then snapped or maybe was killed by the shinigami in a sort of "ha! you won't be the one to catch me" sort of way, I would have no problem. Light just went pathetic way too easily for someone who had faced all the difficulties he had to in his rise to power.

Near and Mello just weren't strong enough characters compared to L. I can't see Light defeating someone of L's caliber when he was inexperienced and new to the game and then being defeated by Near and Mello (who even together didn't seem to have surpassed their teacher/master) after he had managed to gain experience and amass power over years.

I got disappointed when L died.
I mean this was like a one on one between L and Light so I think there shouldn't come two non-grown boys and be able to defeat Light, after his 'victory' over L.

I don't think he had much reason after his opponen died so I don't mind him dead, but not SO.

Did the ending disappoint me? I've been disappointed by this manga ever since L's death. and I absolutely resent Light for it. but strangely enough, I can't completely hate this guy. I just think that it's a shame that he had such a bright future ahead of him but death note ruined him. remember when light lost his memories and became such a sweet guy? he even refused L's request of using Misa to gain information about Kira because light didn't want to take advantage of people's feeling. That could've been Light's actual personality if he didn't pick up the note. Well, Ryuk clearly said that people who uses death note is gonna have misfortune fallen upon them.

As about the ending, well.... I wanted him to lose but I also felt sad when he did. He was such a confident man and he died a humiliatind death. He was begging for his life. In the end, he is no god.

It´s a fitting ending. The anime´s rushed final 3rd is a bit disappointing though and the ending is both abbreviated and somewhat changed for the worse.
The 2 epilogues the manga got are good but I am willing to call recent one disappointing as it barely made sense.
