lambchopsil, the previous poll results are missing their names in your post.

They can take my dead Grandma's quilts out of my cold, dead hands.

((Do pets count in the list of owned-things? Because like none of us are going to give up our cats and dogs. They're bros.)) ๐Ÿ˜ข

So you get a better return on selling stuff you don't need and can redistribute your assets?

For losing any sentimental value, everything without functionality (think photo albums), having more work by transferring your data and buying everything you need again?

Pass. The amount of money I'd get from the better returns would already be lower than what I could earn when not wasting my time.

This actually only makes sense for people who:
a) have no sentimental attachment to anything
b) own a lot of properties and benefit from turning those into cash
c) have a home, no family and desperately want to relocate

If they paid double, then we are talking, but replacement... Nah too much hassle and waste of time ๐Ÿ˜

I have way too many out of print titles for this exchange to be even remotely useful.

It would be a maybe for me but more than likely no. I have so many OOP titles that would be impossible to rebuy if I wanted it back. Once I own something, it's here to stay forever.

For the most part, yes (I voted yes). Some of my mother's items that were left after she died, absolutely not.

Isn't that a definite no then?
The poll says everything. If we could pick and choose, the question would become meaningless as it would be an upside without any downsides cause we'd only pick beneficial stuff.

I really don't understand the point of doing this. It would be a massive pain to have to go out and buy everything I owned again.

Over 60% of us definitely can't become Buddha. And I'm okay with that

I actually did this in the summer ๐Ÿ˜› To a certain extent. Sold what I could, gave away what I could, threw out the useless stuff. One of my friends even got a free car out of it! (Free because she'd only been charged $500 for a really good car, and never paid a dime on it. Great friend. ๐Ÿคจ) Took all that, plus my savings, and moved from a small city to a big city I'd never been to before!

I'm in love with my new home. Honestly, when the time comes, I'll probably sell/give away/toss everything out again and start over in a different city somewhere. Maybe even a different country? ๐Ÿ˜

Like others have said, it'd be a pain in the ass to have to replace everything.

Also, I own some things that are rare or no longer in production (Such as out-of-print comics, manga, video games, anime DVDs), and those might be difficult to find, and who knows if I even could find them all?

This is an easy "no" for me.
