Hi, I asked a sort of similar question in the anime thread though I'll ask it differently here. I basically wikipedia both series without totally ruining the most likely next three story arcs so eps 6 to whatever in the anime series. I just wonder for people who I guessed played the game before there was a manga and anime or whatever order it came out in. At some point in I guess Higurashi Rei(3rd season) and/or in Umineko(1st seasonconfused) Does the relationship between Bernkastel(which looks exactly like Rika except a little older) and Beatrice every get revealed?? A simple yes or no will do. As I am just curious, as I am still curious at the end of Kai where you see an adult Rika(maybe Bernkastel) talk to or sees a young Takano(changed the past??). Any answers or speculations are welcome

The answer is, unfortunately, "sort of."

Bernkastel is the one at the end of Kai. However, she is somehow ambiguously separate from Rika, so don't make the mistake of thinking that they're the same person- the nature of the relationship between the two is entirely debatable, although I believe the witches' tea party in the second arc of Umineko explains it a bit (or rather, at least references Higurashi), and since we got the first, there's no reason to believe we won't see that one as well.

The end of Kai is kind of unrelated. I think Bernkastel actually says it during the first tea party, but part of her ability as a witch is to jump between "shards," which as I understand it are basically separate possible manifestations of reality. The version where Takano's parents never die is a hypothetical possibility of what could have been, just like any of the other arcs of Higurashi, but for all intents and purposes you can assume that the ending in Matsuribayashi-hen is the final canon one for the anime (Rei is really just a series of diversions, it doesn't change or explain anything more completely).

This is all just from memory though- if a larger fan of the game wants to clarify anything or correct me please go right ahead.

Well makes sense kinda lol. Well I will say that I know from reading I guess and from watching it, is that the first episode in Rei is just some ridiculous comedy one that they made and never implemented in the manga. The Dice Killing chapter however is an epilogue to Matsuribayashi-hen ending(good ending). Now the final episode to Rei is gonna be similar to the first one where it's just kinda a random ep and adds nothing to the story at all. The Dice killing chapter from what I believe is basically what finished Higurashi. I guess for Umineko I will just wait for the rest of it to come out and just marathon it from ep 1 again. Though watching Higurashi and Umineko over again when possible might help clear some things up a second time around. Still 2 best mystery series ever.

Oh I forgot to ask. Now I may be mistaken, but is Bernkastel Hanyuu's daughter?? Like maybe Bernkastel is Oyashiro-sama as she is related to Hanyuu, hence why she can be seen by Rika. Oh I'm wrong and Bernkastel is separate from Hanyuu's daughter where every eighth or whatever generation that's a girl get's Hanyuu's daughter's soul.

First off, try to use the edit button next time instead of double posting- just an FYI, but it's against the rules.

Secondly, no. Witches are wholly separate from gods. You'll get more information on just what Higurashi actually was in Umineko, and although it's a little ambiguous it's pretty safe to assume that Bernkastel is an entity wholly separate from both Hanyuu and Rika.
