(sorry if this is the wrong place. It seemed like the right place.)

Hello, this is Camui ^_^ or you can call me Chuus.
I have translating experience (I'm a translator at Midnight Scans, a shoujo group). I'd like to translate Shounen manga for a change, since that's the genre of manga I originally liked, before I started translating Shoujo. I've translated for other groups, too, including a few Shounen... But I narrowed my groups down to only one Shoujo group, and I'd like to be in a Shounen group again

I have a few requirements for groups:
1. I want to mainly translate Bleach, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and Bakuman (my favorite manga)-- but since MH shows signs of turning into a chaotic mass of.... something, I want to join a group and translate. So the group must be willing to have me translate these three series^^
2. Regarding these three series: must be able to get recent raws from somewhere, up to the most recent Shonen Jump magazine release. My friend has a subscription, but since we live in California and the Jump gets shipped from Japan, it's always 2 weeks late >_<
3. No ecchi/hentai/etc. <- absolutely no exceptions.
4. Must be a decently organized group. The few Shonen groups I've joined in the past either didn't give me projects, had me choose my own projects (I don't know much manga as it is), or had another person translate a chapter after I already translated the same chapter...etc.
5. Must be at least 4 months old, and with an experienced admin that knows their stuff. No newbie groups, sorry.
6. Please note that my main group will still be Midnight Scans, and I'm in the robotics team at my high school, so my top priorities will be School (Robotics/Homework/etc.) and Midnight Scans, in that order-- so I might not be very speedy when I have either a lot of homework, or a lot of Midnight Scans projects.
7. I get back very late on Mondays and Tuesdays-- about 5~6pm on Mondays and some Tuesdays, 4pm on other Tuesdays, PST. I also have Japanese school on Saturdays from 8am~3:30pm, and get back at about 6 pm (also PST).

I'll check out the groups in the order that they post, but you can bribe me with Ace wo Nerae (Aim for the Ace), Ashita no Joe, or any of those awesome classic old manga that seem to never be anywhere...

Please include your group name, your position in your group, and the first few projects you will have me work on ^_^

...sorry for the long post, thanks for reading if you got through all of it~

I can't start right away, I want to catch up on the series I'm reading before I do anything, sorry.

I'm a little confused about your criteria. So, you want to work on Bleach, Reborn and Bakuman as well as other shonen series that the group wants you to work on?

There are not that many groups who work on those three series as well as other series and the groups that do those series already have translators or fast access to translations. Actually, I don't think there is any group that does work on all 3... Or maybe I got your criteria all wrong?

yes, that's my criteria... but just having access to the weekly raws would be fine too >_< or just working on one of them

I know that most people do use Mangahelpers as a crutch in order to get their raws and scanlations. However, there are other sites that will give you access to the raws on the friday too raw-paradise being one of them and has actually been around in various forms since before MH. So, if you're just worried about not being able to get raws from Mangahelpers anymore then this site is the answer to that worry: http://kidoailakutrad.free.fr/

My group does work on shonen series, we are organised and have been around for more than 4 months, we also are in need of a translator for specific projects. However, I have no intention of us picking up any current WSJ series, not even the rare ones that I enjoy. So, I imagine that counts me out in terms of making an offer, I hope that I have at least been some help as far as the raws goes.

Yeah, fleshcut pretty much answered your questions there. Although I wouldn't worry about not being able to find raws on Mangahelpers just yet, I think it's a long way off and even if they did remove WSJ raws, the actual raw providers will still remain and I'm sure they will find new channels to get the raws out there so have no fear!

As far as series go, if you are still looking for a good group with good shonen series even if they are unwilling to do any of the current WSJ series then please say so and I will by all means make you an offer. I don't want to clog up the thread if you only want to work with a group that does current WSJ series.

I haven't read any of the older WSJ series... what would you recommend (translating)?
And, sorry. My admin has a thing against Endless Abyss, forgot the reason, I think you stole one of your projects or something XD. Sorry.

Jazzmatazz: I'm not going to limit myself to WSJ because there are a lot of shonen magazines other than WSJ, but I don't know that many good series

I'm an ex-scanlator of Binktopia, but Binktopia on www.binktopia.org could be a good group for you to join.

They are currently looking for a translator for Bakuman, they did the last 2-3 chapters of it and want to continue it. I heard they want to pick Reborn back up to, though I don't think they need someone for Bleach as they have been doing it with one and the same translator for the past 3-4 years now. Also, you'll have to get on IRC pretty often, having requests is one thing, but they'll have high demands for you as well. Good luck trying though.
