I feel like getting Folding@home for my brother comps, and setting them under low CPU usage...but they'd noticed. Brats notices the smallest things on their computer, so so spoiled. no

Yeah, I meant to say 20GB PS3....they don't have wifi, I think. Ah, ethernet router.

Yeah, it took me 7hrs to complete 1 WU. I think the PS3 client has extreme speed on its side, but it can only choose certain WU to fold on. PC has lower speed, but can choose to work on any WU.

So far no overheating problems!

Overheating? I actually heard the fan in the computer I use go on for the first time ever ... is it because of this program? It was hot outside today, but certainly nothing unusual. I cut the CPU usage back to 50% and the fan hasn't turned on since.

You should have a fan in your comp on whenever its on, if your hearing a new sound it might be another fan turning on or the fan turning onto a higher speed. i have to have a open case for my desktop and i installed 2 more fans myself for my desktop because my video card was having some heating issues.

internal fans ftw! What I really want for my PS3 are more fans...someone tell me if they outside of the PS3 is hot. Every time I check, it is outrageously hot. That or its because it's in a small corner of my room...

Waah I want to see my name on the list! I have two WU's done and 1/5 done with another unit>_< I am so impatient when it comes to these things bigrazz

My PS3 never gets outrageously hot, at most it gets warm to the touch near the bottom. I have it standing vertically in an open space. The fan kicks in and cools it off pretty well.

You're listed now blibli, as well as a few others.

Dang it, I still can't see my name even though I finished a WU almost a day ago...

Hey, I accidentally shut down my computer and when I turned it back on folder wont start agian. It just says "attempting to get work packet" for the last 4 hours. Last I checked (las night) I was at was at 3700/5000. I don't think it finished cuz I don't have any score on the website. I am sad. I want to cure cancer

This program that forms proteins is used to cure cancer? eek I know it's suppose to form proteins but I didn't know proteins were chosen.

And we should be able to turn off our computers... eek Or do we have the close the program first?

Ive been able to quit the program and start it back up where i left off a few times but i dont know if it casues probs if you turn off your computer without closeing it.
"Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes."
They are studying the computer models that this programs pumps out to see how these things work, in order to understand them better then of course with that knowledge be able to cure them. They have already gotten some results from doing this.

Though I am sure VinceAsuma wants to help out, I suspect this is part of his sense of humour talking biggrin ... ?

But I have also been able to turn off my computer a few times and it seems to resume on its own. But I think I have been closing the program first, before shutting down the computer. How often does the info save? Were you connected to the internet when it was attempting to get a WU?
Now my problem is that I can't delete the console version from my desktop roll

Well, actually I bumped my laptop on the desk as I was moving it and it hard-crashed and reset. When Windows(booo!) started back up, the folder was all stupid and trying to get packets. Now I am set to 0/5000 and have been there for about an hour. I have had internet connection the entire time though.

I do want to help, and I am genuinely sad about having to restart. It is my sense of humor to make light of things in general though, but really I am a tad disappointed in my laptop.

Edit:

Check this out!!! Totally crazy:
So it was @0/5000 for about an hour or so. So I thought something must be wrong and I thought to un then re install and maybe it would work. After re-install, I still have no graphic, BUT--------All the previous work came back!! I'm at 3700/5000 again and it seems to be working. Does anyone else think this is super weird?

If I were you, I'd just be pissed off, more than sad! bigrazz

I'm glad it seems to be working again, but yeah, that sounds really wierd. But I think the program is supposed to be saving its work as it goes along, so hopefully you will never loose the work already done.
Well, unless your laptop goes up in flames or something drastic eek
