The February issue of Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine is announcing next Wednesday that a live-action film adaptation of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke manga has been green-lit. More details will be provided in future issue of Bessatsu Margaret, although the next issue does include a message from Shiina regarding the news.

This high school slice-of-life series has been running in Bessatsu Margaret since 2005, and the 10th compiled book volume is shipping in Japan this month. The story follows the coming-of-age story of Sawako Kuronuma, a high school girl whose long black hair and pallid skin leads the other kids to call her Sadako (after the ghost character in The Ring horror stories). She eventually changes her life with a little help from the popular boy Kazehaya and her other classmates.

Viz Media is publishing the third volume in North America this month. The manga has already been adapted into a television anime series that premiered in October. The manga was nominated for the first ever Manga Taisho Awards in 2008, and it won the Best Shōjo Manga award in the 32nd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards that same year.

For the drama lovers~ x]

I am so pissed off right now, they picked Haruma Miura for Kazehaya!!! unbelievable, that they picked the guy who doesn't know how to smile, i mean he smirks sure..but smiling? we're talking about mr happy go lucky kazehaya here!! bad choice, this liveaction will fail
The girl suits sawako fine, the resemblance is uncanny, I also like how she's not some beauty and is pretty averagelooking.

mad

well, i watched the movie yesterday and I think Haruma Miura soooo fit being Kazehaya.
He has so sweet and sparkling smile biggrin
Uhhh, I want to kidnap him >.<!!
as for Sawako, yes the girl who played as her is not a beauty,
but it's fine, I dont think that every female lead in Drama must be a beauty one,
it just not fair for average girl like me who live in a real life cry

I also have watched the drama and I think the lead male is quite fitting to be Kazehaya biggrin
In my opinion, the girl is just too pretty to be Sunako, but hell who would want to watch a movie with an ugly lead female lol.

Anyway, in my opinion the pace in the movie was much too fast at the end. But meh, it was a pretty good adaptation, still.
