I can take reading manga or manhwa with not so fantastic art.
I usually draw the line if the body proportions of the characters are absolutely ridiculous or
if the drawing looks more like sketches.
For example, the later chapters of HunterXHunter

cant remember the artstyles name but...the ultra flat style
omg its just awful
but then again even the story in those are so super pretentious its unreadable
its possible that i would like a manga in that style if the story was worth reading
but i dont think so

I often have the problem that I don't like the artwork I tend to drop the manga near the beginning of the first chapter or not even read it at all.

Yes the art matters a lot to me, if I don't like the art I won't even start reading

To me art matters. I will usually read most art styles but I find it hard to read things that are full color. As someone said above how they dont like the flat art I dont like it either. It feels very wierd. I also dont like the art used in most super hero comic books which is the reason I read manga.

If the story is good enough and the art is bad then I can keep going. But if I'm reading a one shot to kill time, or if the story isn't very good then I want good art.

Yeah, the art really matter to me. When a manga title catch my attention, I click it, but if the art is awful, I will leave even before I read it

well, it depends on the story and the characters' development beside the art. i don't really care if the art is rather bad but those two are good.
in fact, i really hate the manga that just focus on the art but messing up with the story and the characters' development. the manga isn't only about art, the story and the characters are parts of it too. i have met many bad mangas, but there are also many of them which keeping good work on the both of three (almost of them are really popular right now).

Yes.
Not only for the sake of your eyes, but also for the story itself. Especially in manga where action(picture) speak more than word. Without a good art to give a sense of felling, emotion, and movement to the story, it doesn't matter how good the story is, it would never able to reach the reader.
Not only it has to be good, it also have to match the manga's genre and story.
Just try to imagine reading Death Note or Kuroshitsuji, but the art is that of Kamichama Karin Chu.

I have a bad habit of dropping manga that doesn't have art that appeals to my tastes. I'm conscious of this habit and want to change it but I really can't. So yes. It matters.
