i would perfer the physical copy but most of the manga i read isnt translated in english and if it is i cant find it and i dont like to buy online cause i can barely afford it in the store.

if i have to pay, i prefer physical paper
however, i'm not rich enough to buy all of the manga that i read (even though in my country they cost for abot 2-3$ per book, but they have poor translation and limited choice)
i might pay for online manga if it means faster release, good quality, and if the story is really great

First: Digital content can be reproduced without much cost, so I would only pay for distribution cost (servers/bandwidth) and a marginal fee... and that only if said site has no ads, since those give an online reader an awful lot of money

Actually, make it a membership fee to reduce ads and charge time or how much I am allowed to watch per day (200 mbs)? and a MINIMAL fee to support the creators...

I knew that there is this option, but I think the assortment of manga you can buy directly in the shop is ridiculously small and even if you have the option to order mange there are still so many manga I can't get there. So I really support the idea of selling them online.

Yes, if I have no other option. For two reason.
1- I prefer physical book.
2- The translation will probabily be really poor. And they will clean de sfx, put "sir" instead of kun/san/sama and this stuffs.

So, IF the translation is good (choose between optional stuff would be cool). It could be good if they just sent the GOOD translated and GOOD adapted version to a official printer. So I go there and take it or they send it to me.

And I would just buy per vol.

But if it's ONLY digital, it has to be good translated and HQ. And I would just pay for creation of the manga (mangaka, etc) and the bandwith. That wont cost to much, about 2-5 euro/dollar per manga I think... That would be... 20-40 euro/dollar. That is not too much if you think about it.

anyways i'm for paying online manga but not at my current situation, maybe when i get a better job and more or less settled down... otherwise i cant really spare that extra cash for now... on other hand, if online manga has crappy quality and slow translation like most licensed manga, i dont really understand the need to make it online, i'd rather get a scanlator to do the job fast and i get it free too...

I agree with most of you, i rather pay for physical copy than pay an online manga. Online manga have other way to support themselves if they are good like donation and advertising. The key is to keep people interested in those title.
Online is also a way to promote yourselves if you thrive to be a mangaka to the world. So why you ask them to pay when you are promote yourself. Its another problem if your manga titles has become well known.

Probably not I'm learning japanese (formally now) and I like to have physical copies even if I don't read them because my computer screen is a lot better to see them on. >_>

the manga market grows very strong this days^^ the market we lack is the anime marcket.And even he improves thanks to AnimaniA. They always presentAnime which just aired in Japan and the publisher instantly license it (like Kuroshitsuji which comes out in december)
About the manga: They finally released Hannah to Akuma, this month they´ll release Dance in the Vampire Bund,Fairy Tailalready has some parts, there are more Bleach volumes out then in the US, Kuroshitsuji is released too, Princess REssurection, Letter Bee, Hoshi wa utauand many more manga are released. Soon the publisheres will annonce their programm for 2011. There are morthen enough manga out there^^

No. Most of the stuff I buy are series I've read online and really loved and so want to own a copy.
Its also annoying when some of the series I want to buy are licensed by companies only releasing on Kindle. I do not have one/paypal/credit card etc. And I like being bale to just grab a book from my bookshelf and quickly read through my favourite scenes. Or just flick through the book.

I'm in NZ and manga costs about $20 - $33 dollars in stores =/ If only you can get some for around $15 but that's mostly just SJ stuff. Most is about $20.
(USD 15 - 24 at the current exchange rate)
My Ludwig II volumes cost me I think $37 each (27 USD) =/ but I don't mind because I love the seires and want to actually /own/ it.

I prefer buying or renting in book volume form. Manhwa/manga's usually cheap where I live, though the price has been going up as of late.
