Just finished "Sweet 18", which had some good moments but overall I didn't think was great. I did like how

everything the witchy ex-girlfriend did to try to break up the main couple ended up backfiring and bringing them closer to each other. (^_^)
I guess "Iryu" is next as it's the only one I have dl'ed right now, unless I take a break for a while...
~~~~~~~~~~~
Watched the first two eps of Iryu; it's good but a lot darker/more serious that I usually go for.
So then I watched:
Kimi Hannin Janai Yo Ne - funny, fluffy murder mysteries; enjoyable but not one I'll keep. Characters are funny, but a bit overly exaggerated.
Jikou Keisatsu 2 - quirky, funny murder mysteries; I'll keep it because I like the characters so much. The subs for the second half are, unfortunately, not very good ("edited from the godawful Engrish subs on a set we bought", according to the subbers) but it's still a great show.
Puzzle (2008) - More murder mysteries & interesting clues/puzzles to solve, with a main character who has got to be THE most two-faced person I've ever seen!
Lots of funny moments, but again, such an exaggerated (and not very likable) main character that it's not a keeper.
Now I need to find something to watch that's NOT a murder mystery....
Love Contract Beginning was very fun, but as the end got closer I kept thinking,
How on earth are they going to make this end happily?
and also, kendo & swimming were such a Big Deal in the beginning but by the middle pretty well faded out of the story, which irritated me. As for the ending:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
First ending: NO F&%@*&G WAY!!!!!
Second ending: Eh, what?!? They didn't die & she woke up after all??
Third ending: WTF?? That guy's been dead for quite a while, what's he doing running around on the beach with them??
After reading up a bit more about the ending, I'm ok with it, esp. since some of the cues/clues I missed due to ignorance of Asian culture explain things more...and because the main girl was a bit too much of a bitch and the main guy went along with everything she said a bit too easily, so I didn't really get too attached to them.
Romantic Princess Pretty good, but throughout the whole show I felt like the timing of the dialogue was just slightly off...like there was just a split-second too long between Person A's line and Person B's response, and somehow it made a lot of it feel really artificial/unnatural. I did consider that it might be a language/culture issue, but I haven't had that "laggy dialogue" feeling in any of the other TW dramas I've seen, so I don't think that's it.
Binbo Danshi First few eps really turned me off, how could ANYone be that stupid with money?? But it did get better, & overall I enjoyed it.
Yukan Club OK, the main reason I watched this was for Mike He guesting in one episode.
Verrrrry silly & exaggerated, kind of fun if you can just forget common sense & go along for the ride.
Gokusen 3 Yep, in many ways it's more of the same, but Yankumi's purely awesome and the boys are cute~
I wish they'd do one final season/special with Matsujun as Sawada Shin, all grown up & in some respectable profession, coming back for Yankumi.
1% of Anything Just...draggy... I usually have a pretty high tolerance for slow moving stories but something about this show just DRAGGED.
I did watch the whole thing, but I have to admit to dozing off every now & then. Cultural question - is Korean society, at least a sizeable portion of it, really THAT conservative?? The main girl is 26, still living at home, and still living under pretty strict parental rules, and no one (in the show) seems to think her situation is odd at all.
Evasive Inquiry Agency Love LOVE this show!! Many many absolutely hilarious moments, and characters that though they may be (more than) a bit off-the-wall bizarre, stay true to their characters clear through the show while at the same time they ARE affected by the events & do grow & change. Lots of mystery plus a smidgen of romance and a nice happy ending.
Currently watching
My Girl - zomg, it's the woman who played the bitchy ex-girlfriend in
Sweet 18, as a COMPLETELY different character.
(And also the guy who played the scheming grandfather in
1% of Anything, as another scheming grandfather, though a bit nicer one this time...) Very funny first 1/2 to 2/3, but with three episodes to go it's getting into the Heavy Drama now. (~_~) I have the feeling this one will have a happy ending, but no guarantees I guess.
Next up:
Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, or
Prince Turns Into Frog, or
Kisarazu Cat's Eye World Series (movie), or
Virgin Road, or
something I haven't downloaded yet.
Anyone watched anything lately that they'd strongly recommend?
