Just finished watching Why Why Love last night, with mixed feelings...

The first 2/3 or so I really enjoyed (Mike He & Rainie Yang are so cute together, & I love that "devil-type" character) but then around the last third when they pulled in
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the whole potentially-terminal illness thing, I was soooo aggravated!!! If they'd killed off Devil Boy I was preparing to find someone who knows Chinese to help me write an irate letter! :P Since he survived I'm ok with it, and I guess something like that was necessary in order to reconcile the father & the two brothers and give everyone a satisfactory conclusion, but watching it wasn't much fun.
I wonder if they purposely reunited four key actors from Devil Beside You or if it just worked out that way?

Not sure what I'll watch next, probably Sweet 18 but I also have Iryu completely downloaded.

I didn't like the terminal illness thing either, if they had killed him off....
And i think they purposely put the four people together in the same drama, probably thought it would be even more popular than DBY then. And hey, i'm watching sweet 18 right now!

Just finished "Sweet 18", which had some good moments but overall I didn't think was great. I did like how
Spoiler (highlight to view)
everything the witchy ex-girlfriend did to try to break up the main couple ended up backfiring and bringing them closer to each other. (^_^)

I guess "Iryu" is next as it's the only one I have dl'ed right now, unless I take a break for a while...

~~~~~~~~~~~
Watched the first two eps of Iryu; it's good but a lot darker/more serious that I usually go for. none
So then I watched:
Kimi Hannin Janai Yo Ne - funny, fluffy murder mysteries; enjoyable but not one I'll keep. Characters are funny, but a bit overly exaggerated.
Jikou Keisatsu 2 - quirky, funny murder mysteries; I'll keep it because I like the characters so much. The subs for the second half are, unfortunately, not very good ("edited from the godawful Engrish subs on a set we bought", according to the subbers) but it's still a great show.
Puzzle (2008) - More murder mysteries & interesting clues/puzzles to solve, with a main character who has got to be THE most two-faced person I've ever seen! laugh Lots of funny moments, but again, such an exaggerated (and not very likable) main character that it's not a keeper.
Now I need to find something to watch that's NOT a murder mystery.... eyes
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Love Contract Beginning was very fun, but as the end got closer I kept thinking,
Spoiler (highlight to view)
How on earth are they going to make this end happily?
and also, kendo & swimming were such a Big Deal in the beginning but by the middle pretty well faded out of the story, which irritated me. As for the ending:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
First ending: NO F&%@*&G WAY!!!!!
Second ending: Eh, what?!? They didn't die & she woke up after all??
Third ending: WTF?? That guy's been dead for quite a while, what's he doing running around on the beach with them??

After reading up a bit more about the ending, I'm ok with it, esp. since some of the cues/clues I missed due to ignorance of Asian culture explain things more...and because the main girl was a bit too much of a bitch and the main guy went along with everything she said a bit too easily, so I didn't really get too attached to them. bigrazz

Romantic Princess Pretty good, but throughout the whole show I felt like the timing of the dialogue was just slightly off...like there was just a split-second too long between Person A's line and Person B's response, and somehow it made a lot of it feel really artificial/unnatural. I did consider that it might be a language/culture issue, but I haven't had that "laggy dialogue" feeling in any of the other TW dramas I've seen, so I don't think that's it.

Binbo Danshi First few eps really turned me off, how could ANYone be that stupid with money?? But it did get better, & overall I enjoyed it.

Yukan Club OK, the main reason I watched this was for Mike He guesting in one episode. laugh Verrrrry silly & exaggerated, kind of fun if you can just forget common sense & go along for the ride.

Gokusen 3 Yep, in many ways it's more of the same, but Yankumi's purely awesome and the boys are cute~ laugh I wish they'd do one final season/special with Matsujun as Sawada Shin, all grown up & in some respectable profession, coming back for Yankumi. biggrin

1% of Anything Just...draggy... I usually have a pretty high tolerance for slow moving stories but something about this show just DRAGGED. dead I did watch the whole thing, but I have to admit to dozing off every now & then. Cultural question - is Korean society, at least a sizeable portion of it, really THAT conservative?? The main girl is 26, still living at home, and still living under pretty strict parental rules, and no one (in the show) seems to think her situation is odd at all.

Evasive Inquiry Agency Love LOVE this show!! Many many absolutely hilarious moments, and characters that though they may be (more than) a bit off-the-wall bizarre, stay true to their characters clear through the show while at the same time they ARE affected by the events & do grow & change. Lots of mystery plus a smidgen of romance and a nice happy ending. biggrin

Currently watching My Girl - zomg, it's the woman who played the bitchy ex-girlfriend in Sweet 18, as a COMPLETELY different character. eek (And also the guy who played the scheming grandfather in 1% of Anything, as another scheming grandfather, though a bit nicer one this time...) Very funny first 1/2 to 2/3, but with three episodes to go it's getting into the Heavy Drama now. (~_~) I have the feeling this one will have a happy ending, but no guarantees I guess.

Next up:
Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, or
Prince Turns Into Frog, or
Kisarazu Cat's Eye World Series (movie), or
Virgin Road, or
something I haven't downloaded yet. laugh

Anyone watched anything lately that they'd strongly recommend?

no double posting

I just watched You're Beautiful, a Korean drama. It's about a girl pretending to be her brother in an all boy band. Lots of hilarious moments and I love the characters. I think it's my favorite so far!

My personal favorites are:
Buzzer Beat (Japanese)- sweet, the main couple was so natural that I had a hard time believing that it was all acting. This is one of those dramas that I had low expectations for and it just wow me.
Hana Yori Dango (Japanese)- you already watched this one
Atashinchi no danshi (Japanese)- some romance but mostly comedy and family. Another drama that I had low expectations for but it blew me away. I love how nonserious it is.
Smiling Pasta (Taiwanese)- I couldn't help but smile when I watch this drama.

Hmmm not a big Yamapi fan but I'll check out Buzzer Beat; also Smiling Pasta though I think the description of that one didn't really grab me.

I can't remember everything I've watched - been a while since posting - but haven't seen anything spectacular lately.

I've watched all of these now:
Delightful Girl Choon Hyang Pretty fun at the beginning but got draggy & I wanted to kick
Spoiler (highlight to view)
that creepy ahjusshi clear across Korea. Also, why did the mom totally disappear from the storyline?? I don't think she was even mentioned after the episode where she took off.
The bits that paralleled the legend & the modern story were really funny, though.

Prince Turns Into Frog errrr can't remember too much about this one, fun but not great I guess??

Kisarazu Cat's Eye World Series (movie) well if you liked the others you'll probably like this one too...better than the first movie, I thought, and did have some more meaningful parts.

Virgin Road Hmmmm it's definitely older & it shows in a lot of ways, but overall an enjoyable & meaningful show.

Dekichatta Kekkon Another older drama, also has some very enjoyable parts. Some of these dramas make me wonder, though,
Spoiler (highlight to view)
if it's possible to have a normal pregnancy & birth in a Japanese drama, or if something ALWAYS has to go wrong...

Rolling Love Couldn't get past the first two episodes, it was just too ridiculous - cooking while accompanied by a live orchestra?? A guy who cooks ONE DISH so well people line up & fight for it, but everything else he cooks is so disgusting people run away in fear?!? I tried to watch it, I really did, but...no. Just no. (~_~)

Atashinchi no Danshi was fun in some ways, but it seemed kind of...artificially fluffy...if that makes any sense??

Tokujo Kabachi! Fun story & characters, but kind of confusing since I don't really understand the distinctions between the different types of lawyers/paralegals in the Japanese legal system & that seemed to be pretty important at some points.

The Quiz Show & The Quiz Show 2 Enjoyed both of these, but not enough to burn to dvd...

Big Money was fun, and I was especially struck by
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Nagase's character just calmly accepting responsibility for having broken the law, even though he was acting on the side of good.
I don't remember ever seeing something like that in American TV/movies, & I've seen it several times in Japanese shows.

Hero was a good not-quite-detective show, but it really irritated me that
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Kimura's character & the girl...can't remember her name...didn't definitively get together, & then in the special they're not really together, but I didn't get the feeling that they were exactly broken up either...

Just finished watching the K-drama for Boys Over Flowers & now I really want to watch the Japanese drama again to see how it matches my memory of it. There were a lot of things that really irritated me about this drama; it wasn't awful but (as I remember) the Japanese version was a LOT better. The Rui character had a way bigger part - more love triangle-ish stuff - and it felt really REALLY long.

Personal Preference had some fun & sweet moments, and it was really nice to see some gay characters treated like normal/ordinary people, but fell into too much drama there at the end.

You're Beautiful was fun, but I could predict several plot twists from pretty early on and
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I was really hoping to actually SEE the brother in action at the end. I mean, obviously I know the brother & sister were played by the same actress, but couldn't they have had at least a couple of scenes at the end where she acts as the brother?? Also irritated me that ALL THREE of the guys in A.N.Jell fall for the girl. (~_~)

OH right, I thought Saigo no Yakusoku was awesome~~ A special rather than a series, but I loved it. eyes Not just because Arashi stars in it, though that was a bonus; I thought it was a good story & well done, and again
Spoiler (highlight to view)
at the end they accepted responsibility for having broken the law, instead of trying to run away or justify themselves & get out of it.

Now that I've practically written a book here, anyone else have some dramas to contribute?? laugh

I juz finished........

Personal preference -this also good.The girl thought that guy was a gay.It was so funny.I laugh non-stop when I watch this drama

Yamato nadeshiko shichi hinge- its pretty good but I like the manga better.I don't like the sunako character in drama.

Shining Inherintance -but its gets too boring and dragging so I stopped half way.Its a typical story about rich girl, lost her father and bankrupt.Her stepmother, tricked her.And also, the main guy is an arrogant guy.

Kurosagi -this really good and I love it.Its yamapi, and I love most of his drama like nobuta wo produce

satorare-its pretty unique I guess and its fun to watch.About mind reading but its the other way around where all people can read his mind, but he doesn't know about it

hotaru no hikari - I like the drama better than the manga,The main guy is cute and I love his other drama love revolution.

Now, I'm thinking about watching My girl and My lovely Kim Sam-Soon for the 2nd time...I juz love this two series

I've seen & enjoyed these four, also.

After starting Satorare, though, I started noticing what others would hear if my thoughts were broadcast like his - and then it started bothering me that all of his thoughts were pretty coherent & in complete sentences - does anyone really think like that, ALL the time?? Well he's a genius, so maybe that's the difference, but it still seemed really artificial to me. laugh

Shining Inheritance just doesn't appeal to me somehow...& Korean dramas are sooo freaking LONG. (~_~) I've heard mixed things about My Lovely Kim Sam-Soon; it's on my "maybe" list for now.

I'll probably watch Kaibutsu-kun next, just for something totally different. eyes

As for me, I don't think my thinking is like him.My mind always wander aimlessly and if anyone can read my mind I think they will be confused.Even I sometimes don't know what I'm thinking about.
laugh

I juz realized they made a movie from Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu.I don't like the manga so mayb I wont watch it.
