Thought this chapter was bad. First off is Sasori.
The guy killed and stole the body of the Third Kazekage. Because of that he created the Third Ninja War.
He also destroyed a whole country with his puppets. And how does he go out?
Kankuro gives some bullshit speech and Sasori goes all emotional.

With the loss by Sakura and Chiyo and now this? I just.....The Akatsuki members were supposed to be monsters. Capable of anything. But this blows. I officially dislike Sasori now.

I lost some hope for Deidara too. Lose against third rate shinobi's that fast?

I really hope Kabuto won't resurrect Jiraiya, Kisame and Konan. Cause if Kakazu, Itachi and Nagato goes down like this.....then there is no point in having more people get resurrected.

Then the part with Naruto. Nice to know about the rasengan.
But another rasengan tech = lame.

Deidara isn't some crazy, elite shinobi. The others are pretty far from being "third rate".

You shouldn´t hate him just beause Kishimoto got no ideas and just wanted to find a reason the let him go. That´s typical for Kishimoto. He makes great chacaters, give them an interesting past, cool powers and good looks and then they just kill them of or don´t let them appear often. And the annoying ones *cough*killerbee*cough* get big roles. Serisously, why did he make him so strong? That guy acts like a replacement for Jiraya, but i, who didn´t like Jiraya that much, have to say, that Jiraya was way better than this guy. And Sasori should have gotten a bigger and better role, but maybe 'Kishimoto is thinking that their mass of Chakra is restricted to the vessels original amount.....

Don't worry, 90% of Naruto readers take it way too seriously. I think they forget that the target audience is 12 year old boys.

actually, shounen is for 10-18 year old boys...
Naruto has a target audience in the US that is younger than in Japan. In the US the target are kids in elementary and middle school. Not quite beyond lower elementary school themes of silliness and potty-humor, and just getting into dealing with boy-girl relationships. Naruto is actually to deep for kids to fully understand it while the teens can see more than this. And actually, Naruto started in 1999 and the readers grew with the story, so many are older now. And wikipedia says about the Shounen Jump:
Quote
Though targeted towards "tween & teen male consumers", according to Viz Media the magazine enjoys a relatively high number of female and adult readers as well, comprising 36% and 37% of its readership, respectively. The Shonen Jump reader has a median age of 16 years, and over half of the audience is between the ages of 13 and 17. Official measurements by Simmons notes that among minor age readers the female readership is slightly lower and the median age is 12

Of course he's a Elite ninja. The S before rank means something you know.
Ok I admit, they are not third rate. But to take down 2 S-Rank shinobis so fast is just wrong.
Sasuke had extremely difficult time in taking Deidara down.
I actually thought both Deidara and Sasori would kill all of them except Sai:S.

ShadowSakura: Yeah I thought about it. You're right. But it was such a lame way to go you know.
And yes, Killer bee annoys me too bigrazz

I'm sorry, but no, Naruto isn't too deep, and that is my point. If you over emphasize something that is perfectly fine being simple, it is ruined. It's actually really annoying. To be honest, I only said 12 year olds because I thought saying teenagers would be giving over way too much credit. And yes, I am looking at this from the point of view of how it's marketed in the US.

But obviously older people read it. I'm 20 and read it. But then again, I don't pretend that Naruto is something more than it is.

Well said. I find it hilarious how most people tend to forget that this is a 'Shounen' Jump title. It's supposed to be simple-minded, full of nonsensical action and deep burning friendship.
Some people take it way too seriously, you'd think they were reading Kafka or something.

I'm 25 and find the series to be highly enjoyable. For the most part, watching the plot unfold has been a very fun and interesting ride so far. It has become a bit of an obsession of mine though. I understand people have varying opinions and that's no different here, but like others have mentioned...it is 'shounen' manga.

It's funny.. how simple minded the series is at times, and other times seams deep in a way, but really just goes back to it's simple-mindedness. I think that people hope for a deeper series, and well we get this, and that, then complain about it.

Shounen doesn't mean simple minded dribble though. There are plenty of shounen titles out there that are much deeper then Naruto is, just as there are some that are even more simple then Naruto.
