Any shounen/ seinen manga where it contains a certain amount of realism, while at the same time, offers a good story and great characters?

Dozens upon dozens. It really depends on what you want.

You can grab a thriller like Monster, a solid romance like Yesterday wo Utatte, a bildungsroman-esque coming-of-age like Sangatsu no Lion or ever a *moderately* realistic action story along the lines of Vagabond. It really just depends on what, exactly you're looking for.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

There's too many to count so I'll just recommend Kiichi!!, since it's been on my mind.
