I was just looking at this series page and noticed that 4 out of the 5 recommendations are hentai or yaoi.

I suggest that if a manga isn't in the hentai or yaoi genre, then it should not have any hentai or yaoi recommendations.

Indeed. I saw shounen and shoujo recommended in my fav yaoi series. I would like recommendations to be the same genre/demographic. The category is not as describing. Maybe the recommendation should be connected with the genre first as main factor and then with the category as sub-factor?

P.S. frustratedguy109, I hope your suggestion is in general. That is why I replied. I mean you point yaoi and hentai just as an example, not as the only genres that must be filtered.

Well I was really just talking about the hentai/yaoi thing... I mean it's a pretty big leap to go from some happy school life comedy to hardcore hentai rape.

I think your suggestion is interesting, but some series have 8 or more genres. Wouldn't confining recommendations to only series meeting all those criteria be too limiting?

What about borderline hentai? Or mature/adult? I know not all of the latter have to do with sex, but there are surely some that have high sexual content. And not all hentai have no story.

We could really use a way to filter through hentai with plot. Of course, it would probably end up being a purely subjective thing and fail, but it's a nice idea.

I asked bc you say hentai/yaoi but not yuri which is hard too. That's why I was afraid it could be like genre bashing not like a suggestion in general. But now I'm sure you don't mean any negative thing here.smile

As yaoi fan I could say there are yaoi mangas which are comedy and happy school life AND hard yaoi at once. And this is totally normal. I'm sure yuri mangas are the same. So this is not a big leap indeed. I don't say rape thought. Many yaoi mangas deals with school boys as well many yuri mangas deal with school girls.

It seems that the title suggestions depends of this what the one who make the suggestion sees in them, from his/her personal vision. If I read yaoi for the yaoi thing I'd suggest yaoi title. But if someone read some hard title because of the school life/drama/comedy thing then he/she would suggest some school life/drama/comedy without minding the demographic.

My opinion is that when someone makes a suggestion he/she should observe two main things - the genre and the demographic, not only the genre.

Any decent arc of chapters would be a nice start. Say, any storyline that covers half a book, at least? 3 chapters is probably the absolute minimum (for the best (guesstimated) return). It's hardly perfect, but it's a decent, objective starting point from which people can investigate on their own initiative.
