i would fight because i believe in my country(USA) and know that most people here would not want to be taken over
some people seem to have misunderstood this as being zero chance of winning when there is less than 1% which means you may win its just almost impossible
another thing is by country i am referring to the people...after all there is no country without people

I don't fight for my country; I prefer having other people do the fighting for me; I'm nowhere near tough enough for that.
And it's no use fighting for a lost cause; if I have to choose between patriotism and my life, I choose my life.

No.
What would be the point of fighting a losing battle?

I care as much for countries as a dog cares for quantum mechanics.
There's absolutely no feeling of belonging between me and other people
living on the same soil just because someone has conjured up a set of rules
for it.

I might fight for the people that I love, but to ask me to fight for something inanimate as a country, no.

define country.
your mean people?
family, friends, your neighborhood, town, city... ?
maybe just people in general?
or country as in government? or maybe the idea that everyone in your country is together?
fighting for one's country sounds rather epic, but when you stop to thinking who really benefiting from your efforts, is not always obvious
if there's one thing that have learn(from gundam wing ) is that the difference between friend of foe is thinner than paper, and the people who says hero today is the same that will say monster latter, and everytime someone try to justify actions by such vague beautiful terms hes trying to use you

Some people at this post mistake State with country... and some even mistake it with goverment...
i'd fight if im not alone. Its better to lose fighting than to lose without a fight.

No, why would I fight a battle I know I had zero chance of winning? It just means you are trowing your life away. I would grab my loved ones and get out! As long as you are alive, you could find something worth to do

It depends. Who's trying to take over the country? What sort of political system do they have in place? Are they going to last, or would they be easily destroyed by a revolution? Are they going to kill everyone, regardless if you resist or not, or only kill those who resist? Are they going to loot all the towns they take over? Are they gonna force me from my home?
All these questions (and probably some more) would have to be answered before I made my decision.
