In my opinion, leggings as pants are really gross. The girls who wear them always have really bad camel toes. Its really disgusting. THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO BE WORN THAT WAY PEOPLE. If you really must, make sure your crotch is clear. But its still gross even if they don't get a camel toe - most of the time they're opaque and I get a full view of the g-string (Why is it that fat people always wear g-strings?) and all the goods I don't wanna see.
Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a really hot girl wear the style this way. Its mostly middle-aged overweight people. I don't wanna see a hot, in-shape girl with a camel toe, but fat middle aged people are just gross when they get them.
Jeggings are ok - but again, watch out for the camel toes.
Oh god, the camel toes...

but i dont see how leggings are much more revealing than skinny jeans
I think the difference between how revealing skinny jeans and leggings are is small but pretty significant. I wear skinny jeans a lot but I'd never wear leggings as pants. Skinny jeans are never as elastic as leggings so they're never as tight (although yes, the very skinny skinny jeans often have a bit of give). The fabric is thicker as well depending on what sort of skinny jeans you're going for, and since they have pockets and zippers and things, they are a bit stiffer and more substantial (hence why leggings are more comfortable) and tend to obscure stuff like panty lines. Sure they cover up pretty much the same amount of flesh as leggings, but since leggings 100% hug your skin you can see pretty much every detail, down to the line of the underwear, every crease of fat, and, even more unfortunately, the camel toe. Which nobody wants to see. They are barely hiding anything. And that's why it could get you called a slut, because it leaves pretty much nothing to the imagination, you are gonna get looked at, and if you are wearing that kind of thing, it's like you're inviting that kind of attention.
