I just do not see the need for the world to know what I do or do not read. I vote on those mangas that I deemed worhty and that's it.

Quote from Pupok
Never understood that "privacy" thing....location...gender...age...
I mean WHO CARES?=| The person u are talking to might be(and i'd say the most of the time it's like that) on the other side of the planet...why do u care what she/he might get to know about u?=|
And especially about such useless pieces of information like gender or age....not to say about some manga list-_-

Beyond the online stalkers who are not on the other side of the planet, privacy is an important and complex issue. But before any of that, we can very well assume privacy is important to many individuals. Therefore, respecting their choice to keep personal information private is something everyone should uphold. So, I believe that the keeping things hidden as a default option was a very respectable choice made by MU.

On a side note, a personal information that reveals one's traits and personality such as manga list is likely the most useful data to an online stalker in earning trust.

------------------------------------

On topic, my list used to be set to visible. But, I changed it to hidden few months ago. My list since then probably hasn't changed much. And it's not like I have hentai on my list or anything but what I choose to read is my choice and mine alone sans positive or negative judgment of others. And I preferred to exercise my freedom to privacy granted by MU to keep it to myself. In simple words, because I felt like it. And I'm too lazy to keep the list organized except few custom sections...

I think u are kinda overreacting...=| And i mean REAAALY overreacting...
How can something like age, gender and location(country) help to some mysterious(never heard of such thing-_-) online stalkers(whats that even mean?they spamming u with pm or what?=|)
And i never said anything about revealing all their info...i'm just curious whats the reason=|thats all...
Coz it's still seems kinda silly to me to hide all that so desperately

The only list I keep list I keep public is the one with the manga I have completed and liked very much. It is public because those are sort of my recommendations for the ones who view my profile and want to know what I read. The others are hidden because I don't find them that special as to recommend them to anybody. It's just your everyday manga to be read during a boring day => not gonna leave a memory in my head.

I wanted to make a public reading list with the ongoing manga that I find interesting but since I'm too lazy to move them to a new place and then keep clicking on that specific list to see if there are any updates they might as well stay in the default reading list until they're completed. Might do this one day though. Hmm.

I hadn't thought about making it anything but public it kind of doesn't matter to me because i'v read a tremendous amount of manga so if anyone were to look at my complete list they wouldn't bother are think i was crazy for reading so much my wish list is so small i hadn't thought about a stalker because i read a lot of yaoi and i'm female i don't think anyone would be coming after me because of my reading list in fact they might run away because they think something is wrong with me because of my taste in reading material. eyes laugh

If I am understanding some of the later posts I read, there are people out there that think that because they do not care or do not see a reason why something (sex, hobbies, manga lists, etc.) should not be "public" then that leaves that the person is either paranoid or have something to be ashamed of.

Let me simplify this in a way that cannot be misrepresented. The same way there are people that when you meet you know their lives stories within an hour (or less) there are those that will not share much until they get to know you better. I am one of those that will wait until I know who you are. It is not only a matter of trust even if it does come into play. In simple terms, I like my privacy. And moreover, you all need to respect that and not make asinine assumptions as to why somebody or bodies will not share something that you do not see a reason not to.

It's by default that manga list is not visible to others, and not that many people care to make it public
The right question should be, if the list is for one's own benefit, why make it public?

gd comment. The question should rather be, why do you show your manga list?

(Personally I thought it would be nice if anybody is ever interested in what I'm reading, or likes my taste and finds some good manga)

Nah,just bored, and allways wanted to know that thing..simply out of curiosity
Just seem funny to me to watch, how ppl treat some manga list like a social security number...or a number of their credit card lol^_^
