Whooo!!!! Now for PIPA, Ten Strikes, and ATT/Comcast.

What happened to Megaupload should be a heeded warning to other companies. Be careful and tread softly, we now live in a world that or rather are in a world where everything is on a thin line. A gray area so to speak. Rocky future but we'll get there someday.

Only care for MediaFire but I do feel bad for anyone who paid for the lifetime (or premium or whatever) account. No way they're getting that money back. >:

To be fair, at first it was a peaceful protest against unjust bills. but now, it seems to be way to escalated. They state that this has noting to do with SOPA though. bullshit. IMO, they purposely did this now to provoke a response(which we did,"hint, hint" anonymous "hint, hint"). and now.. gawd, they are gonna push us so much backwards...

Kinda guessed this would happen... actually kinda glad it did.... it should be understood that the internet should be permanently free and open entirely. I think someone should make it clear that we will revolt if the last truly free place in the world is overrun by this ridiculous censorship... also believe it or not but there is huge reason to buy the real blu-rays/dvd/music/games. I.E. usually higher quality, no viruses, and no chance of being arrested... so I'm guessing this isn't hurting their business all too much as no one who enjoyed it enough to pay for it would be satisfied with a cheap knockoff, and there is much less risk in just buying it... in other words take the stick out of your @$# and stop b#$%$ing about pirating, and realize that if you make vids in good quality at a reasonable price people will buy... and people who wouldn't normally buy it will pirate it and then increase the hype about it online.

If I'm missing something pls inform me, but I've gotta think that for every one person that was debating buying it, and settled for the risky and/or lower quality free version. 1-2 others were introduced to it through this way and decided to own it confused
I will admit that many more people just download it and don't buy it.. but tbh almost all of them never even considered a purchase in the least so it is still most likely breaking even/positive on their potential proffits.

(Id like to note this only applies to movies out of the theatres..... they lose a lot if its spread around when being sold per view instead of on shelves >_>)

The ultimate goal is to cause the decline if not outright death of the current generation of independent file lockers. No more Megaupload, Mediafire, Rapidshare, etc.

The MPAA and RIAA affiliated monoliths need to promote their version "the cloud" after all and freedom isn't something on their long term agenda. Why only make money off of ads when you can force people to pay a monthly subscription fee for a shittier service? No one will mind the draconian 100k line ToS designed to screw users' rights to property and privacy. If they do, they won't have an alternative anyway.

Edit: Of course we all know there always will be an alternative and if they don't give a viable alternative, then they'll go the way of Tokyopop, ADV and 4kids.

Well.. It was going to happen someday. I'm okay with them shutting down filesharing sites like megaupload, because a lot of the files were files you had to buy if you couldnt find them on the internet. IMO that's their right. We are gonna be shrewed in many years, if you keep on downloading everything you want. Then the makers get no money and might not afford the next game/movie/whatever it is.

Points to previous post. I've gone out of my way to buy ps1 games I enjoyed on an emulator. Bought japanese raws of a manga not produced here cuz I liked it, and bought movies/animes in blu-ray because they were good and I wanted a hard copy.... music...... ok I'm kinda butt-f'ing the music companies atm but that's irrelevent >_>

looks like the end of the internet lol....every file hosting service has similar content, so they will be shut down as well. I guess, sites will need to be hosted in Russia or China if this continues.

I think makoz was referring to the "Communist countries don't live by American rules" deal. As far as I know, Hong Kong isn't Communist. But I don't think accessing Russian or Chinese websites will be all that easy either. Well, I don't know how to, anyway.

But the way things are going right now it looks like I'll either have to find some way to make more money while going to college, or give up on entertainment altogether. Now which will it be...confused Pretty tough choice laugh
The saddest thing is that these laws / acts / internet witch hunts even affect people like myself who don't live in the USA. Oh, well...beggars can't be choosers!

Sucks for people like me who have a good connection and were able to get
pretty good speeds, as Megaupload was one of the fastest hosts.
Not too happy to DL 100 or 200 kbps...

U So agre with you. Even though i dont live in USa i will be affected. And most of the anime, manga and games i play are not available here in the first place, so theres no choice but to depend on file sharing sites.

Out of curiosity, what counts as a good speed? My max is around 200 kbps nowadays and before this I was on dial up.

Megauploads 1 Mbs perhaps? others move around 50-100 or 150-300 kbps.
