It has been confirmed that USUI Yoshito, the creator of Crayon Shin-chan is dead after falling 120 meters (in the mountains) and sustaining damage to the lungs and other areas, which probably occurred sometime in the afternoon of September 11th.

There are plans for two more chapters of Crayon Shin-chan, as USUI Yoshito submitted the art for two chapters before his death. The anime series still has an unknown status.

Wow, that sucks. Well, hopefully his work that hasn't been released have a little memorial page.

Whilst Crayon Shin-chan wasn't on my own reading list, I know many people who loved it (and the anime). Usui Yoshito had a truly original art style which is instantly recognisable and an original approach to humor, both of which are rare talents in the often generic world of manga. RIP.

I was hoping that he had just disappeared like Senator Mark Sanford and that he would come back on his own volition in a couple of weeks.

And to die like that...
Shit...

That's horrible. I understand how his family must be feeling right now.

You should not say something like that. We are talking about someone's life here, you are being disrespectful towards his fans and family members.

I don't mean to offend you but it just makes me mad when people start to type things like "Omg he died?? =( Well thank god -insert name- IS alive."

I grew up watching Shin-chan and my parents loved watching it too. May he rest in peace.

He lived just like he wanted to, he died without regrets. He will be remembered.

of course it's not murder, people die in mountain accidents all the time. All you need is bad weather, a gust of wind, or just putting one foot wrong and that's it, you're fucked. And that's just in countries with little mountains like the UK. Presumably he died doing something he loved while knowing the risks.

At least for his family/friends it wasn't that long before they found him though.
RIP Usui Yoshito.
