I don't read it; I prefer to stick to the main story.

I read doujins when they are written by a mangaka as a supplement to their serialized story. I don't read shonen jump slash doujins >_>

Well, it depends. There are some DJs that I read, whilst I avoid either. I tried a few DJs with characters from other manga but it depends on how much I liked the characters and their role in that respective manga (or whether I can handle seeing them in other roles).

So.. what do I choose? Shouldn't there be a fourth option with "Sometimes yes, sometimes no"? XD

Really? I've actually read an H doujin before that had a better story going for it than most slice of life/school genre mangas do.

That said, yes I read doujins; and I'd like to point out that some of the people who posted before me need to realize not all doujinshi is based off an original manga or novel; some are from games while others are works all on their own.

For those who don't know, and clearly there are some besides those who voted Opt3; doujinshi is fan made manga... thus it doesn't mean, as I've said, that there will always be a main story that it branches from.

I love doujinshi. I'd never get to see my favorite Code Geass pairings (Schneizel/Lelouch and Clovis/Lelouch <3 <3 <3), and more of my fave characters without it.

I read doujinshi if it's by a mangaka I like (not necessarily the same as the original mangaka), or if the original story lends itself well to being portrayed through doujinshi.

Same here only h doujin for me. Those are great. outside of the h stuff there arent any doujins based on my favorite series (Gantz, Berserk, Akira). If there are any doujins on those series I'd be more than happy to read them but sadly there arent any that I'm aware of.

(especially berserk, I could use a doujin of that given the ridiculous hiatuses)
