Sorry, that just seems a little bit hypocritical. I don't particularly care if people like them or not, I don't enjoy them, but that's a personal taste, but it seems to me that when you have two series that market to the same demographic, share the same genres, and have a roughly equal-sized fan base then the results from liking or not liking either should be the same. One Piece is a little less similar than those two, so I'll let it slide, it just seems that you think because you like certain series more that inherently makes other people wrong -_-;;

Seriously though if I had to list all the manga I read it'd take up a hell of a lot of space (none of which includes One Piece, Naruto, or Bleach). What does disliking naruto say about me? Personally I dont enjoy overly cliched characters, and a manga that goes on and on and on without an end in sight.

When Naruto ends, Naruto Z will come out, and after that Naruto GT will come out and by that time Gok... cough* Naruto and his gang of ninjas will be able to blow up the world with a twitch of a finger, but wait there're stronger bad guys that can blow up the world with a twitch of their fingernails!!!

Clearly you have a very limited scope on manga taste if the only other manga u can come up with is One Piece. Sorry but "Just me speaking."

I'm sorry, it appears you misread my statement as some sort of personal attack at you for liking Naruto- let me be explicit: I really don't care whether you do or not, or whether or not you like other manga more. My question was not about why people hate Naruto, or whether or not they can articulate why they don't like it (I, again, simply say it's not my taste. Most Shounen epics aren't), but why you feel it is deserving of respect over Bleach to the point that not liking Bleach is okay, but not liking Naruto means the person has some sort of problem? I don't know about anyone else, but I know quite a few more people that like Bleach than Naruto (I'd assume the actual fanbases are of similar sizes though), so by your own analysis of fads shouldn't I be more inclined to hate Bleach with a passion in some sort of attempt to seem cool?

As for having an entire thread to bash a manga, I agree that it's a bit excessive, however I'm still curious about how people think on both sides, so in a way it's convenient anyway *shrug*. I just get curious when I see people that are firmly only in support of one of the two and don't give an explanation.

I'm going to take the liberty and address the notion of Naruto not "selling out" in comparison that you spoke of. I can certainly see how One Piece has "sold out", but to me it seems that both Bleach and Naruto will not be ending for a long time either. To be frank, they're huge cash cows. Companies are making tons of money off of them on a world wide level, I sincerely doubt the publishers will simply let something that successful end before the sales calm down a significant amount. Even if the mangaka wanted to end it, I'm not sure it would be an option. Then again, I could end up being totally wrong, and I'd have to give props for the author's guts.

Secondly, I'm not calling you a conservative or a McCarthyite, just drawing the parallel to your obvious ignorance. Just because YOU like Naruto doesn't mean I have some sort of character defect beause I dispise it. How is Naruto moving? He's an idiot, this manga has no subtleties, no symbolism, nothing deeper period, and why do all your examples come from only Shonen manga?

There are wayyyyyyyyyy more manga out there than just bleach naruto and one piece. It is clear to me that you've never gone beyond the shonen demographic (if you even know what that means).

Also I wouldn't say naruto bleach or one piece sucked if I hadn't read them. It just got to a point where they just recycle ideas from other shonen mangas (Naruto is an idiot with hidden powers, done before, Sasuke is the sullen antihero, done so many times i wanna puke, Sakura is the fiesty girl but cute deep down, DONE SO MANY TIMES THAT HER ARCHETYPE EVEN HAS A NAME, tsundere btw)

Naruto is just popular with people who aren't as well aquainted with manga as others.

It's not that I don't like them, it's the fact that nothing ever goes anywhere that I hate. On top of that it takes a week to come out with a chapter and all it says is, "I defeted you, bout oh wait there's more!" Then for the whole chapter nothing else happens. Rosario+Vampire and 666 Satan were much better compared to Naruto and Bleach.

I suppose you're right, though compared to the entire section with 3000+ posts devoted to their awesomeness i dont think one small 40+ posted thread is excessive.

Haha, yeah, I guess it does depend on perspective a bit, although bashing feels a bit less constructive to me. I'm enjoying this thread all the same though- don't mind me.

Bleach has recycled ideas...girl character gets kidnapped, ichigo discovers he must get stronger, avoids friends, they come along anyway, meets people on battle, people fight...lots of blood, bad guys DO die..ichigo and friends..survive but bloody.

See, I read all of the shonen..and like each of them but I also recognize which ones are juvenille and like fast food and which ones are actually about something.

naruto's recycled ideas...hmmm...well, if you've read it...no two arcs are the same u fucking retard.

Lastly, my manga repertoire is on my list..go look it up. It's available to everyone. Check it out and speak to me with some intelligence next time asswipe.

Also I just got caught up in the moment so my post above was a bit rude, so I apologize for forcing you to type out a well crafted essay. I was just vaguely ticked off by your first statement of "but not liking Naruto I think says more about you than about Naruto"

That was extremely uncalled for. Clearly everyone can express their opinions, and obviously there are people who dislike the manga even if it's one of the most popular currently in America.

As for my reasons for disliking the manga? Hmm well first of all I don't really like Shonen action mangas, used to love them (DBZ, Yuyu hakusho, and such), and when i started reading Naruto,I thought it was cool, but got bored of it after awhile and thought that Naruto's idiocy, Sasuke's emoness, and Sakura's tsundereness was cliched (also after watching the anime, the filler killed the series for me forever). Only character in Naruto that still has a place in my heart is Gaara.

Well you're repetoire of manga is interestingly uniform. I like a lot of the series you have read (Ichigo 100%, Black Lagoon, etc), but then again I get bored if I read the same things over and over again, so I also read girl shojo/josei manga (call me a fag if you want, but hey getting in touch with your feminine side is nice sometimes).

Popularity theory. Once an anime (Or genre. Shounen, in this case) finds a niche with an impressionable group, it's popularity will spread like wildfire.

For some reason, shounen's always seem to click with the "LoL U r S)0000 STUPID LOLZ!11!!ZOMG!" group.

I just hope the MX0 anime doesn't catch on like this...

There both crap,but mainstream Anime usually is.
