Pretty much.

Eclipse Hunter (Novel) - as cold-blooded as they come. Same author as 1/2 Prince and Legend of Sun Knight if you're familiar with either.

^ill have to check that out. While not my favorites I really enjoy both of those series. Seems to be quite a varied author so I may look for more of their work after

Thanks a ton to TehShush. I just caught up to adekan and its GREAT. So many switches between hilarious and horrifying. Gotta say tho NO ONE in that manga knows how to direct their hatred. Way too many people who have done nothing wrong get dragged into personal vengeance. Also I kinda hope it doesn't end with the Yaoi ending cuz I really really like some of the MCs female love interests(especially a certain nomadic tribe refugee turned thief, and the poor girl who loved butterflies)

Also i really like how the mcs real dark side is so rarely shown. Although its unfortunate that he has yet to show a prolonged breakdown... anyway ty for introducing me to this story. If it doesn't destroy itself later it'll probably be one of my favorites.

Also alyosha is surprisingly amazing. When it started I foresaw only a dark past and a gag school life story. Gotta say I'm pleased with the skeletons hidden in this cute stories closet.

Gunslinger fits, but Im already reading it. As for Freesia it looks really interesting. Thanks for the rec..... just looking at the cover art convinces me I'm going to be depressed at the end XD

I severely underestimated what I was in for with freesia 0.0, and I thought it was going to be really f'ed up x.x. never read a manga quite as disturbing as this one, and trying to understand a few choice chars nearly ruptured my brain.... not to mention the damage of attempted empathy for others. I'm never going to forget that story. Now excuse me while I purge myself with 10 tons of ridiculous comedy and fluffy stupid romance stories.
^to clarify I'm not saying I regret reading it. I knew from the start it would be that way, just had to mention how thoroughly the author succeeded in his goal to f my mind. Ty for the rec

Edit: for further clarification I've read manga that were far more gory and deranged. Yet this one screws with your mind better. the atrocities seen in this don't come close to some of the screwed up crap I've read, but I guess it just draws you in more. Had to make this post before people started mentioning just how many series beat this in terms of horrible crap that happens.

what about elfen lied?
it's pretty well known for it's gory and tragic storyline and lucy does look weak when she's in her nyu form..
you probably heard of it anyways ^^

I didn't even think about it, but yeah that works nicely. Unfortunately I have already read it... and remember it oh so clearly. I've read many series with darker plots, and way more gore, but that ending(well near ending anyway) still f'ed with my mind x.x.
