So yeah I'm looking for a sad protagonist. Not the kind where they got no friends and they think their life sucks or anything. I'm aiming for something more of the 'pathetic' kind. Where their life is so bad and pathetic and they go on with it, not realizing that they're so pitiful, then when they do, they think about it for a while and ignore it because they can't do anything about it. The kind of character that you'd pity and sympathize with them. That's what I mean by sad. Any genre is fine, thanks.

I think this kind of fits your description.

Girls of the Wild's - The genre is action with a romantic subplot.

The protag is pitiful; he's hard-working, poor, and has to take care of two children.

However, of course he doesn't remain "sad" forever; he tries to overcome his weaknesses through fighting and becoming stronger.

@Whatever sr but that was totally not what I was looking for. She has no friends and is just socially awkward, that's all, well, I admit that's a bit lonely, but not that sad. But thanks for the rec anyways!!

Can anyone please give me some more?
