Hi, I'm looking for a manga with a protagonist who is male and has a cool, calm and calculating personality (alliteration is fun, though in this case, entirely incidental). In other words, the opposite of Naruto (apart from the male and protagonist features of the character).

I'm thinking along the lines of:
Code Geass - Lelouch
Death Note - Light
Island - Pan
Ubel Blatt - Koinzel
Kaze no Stigma - Kazuma
Sanctuary - Hojo and Asami
Hellsing - Alucard
Spiral - Ayumu Narumi
Kurosagi - Kurosaki/Kurosagi
Team Medical Dragon - Dr. Asada

Thanks.

I'm talking about Yugi's alter ego. The first seven volumes of Yu-Gi-Oh! are probably nothing like what you watched as a kid. Those were the volumes that were actually good. But once they started focusing on the card game as the main storyline, the series went to shit. But seriously, reading the first seven volumes of Yu-Gi-Oh! will change your perspective on it,

Yea ive read the yugioh manga (back when i subscribed to shonen jump *shudder* ty those days are over) obviously ur talkin about Yami Yugi hence why i said "next second balls drop and he gets pube hair" litterally next second (ok maybe 5 seconds or so to allow the transformation montague)

So you didn't even like the first seven volumes, back when Yami Yugi was at least kinda cool.

Is that what the original TV series is based on? If so, Yugi's alter ego is the sort of character I'm looking for, except I don't like the whole separate sentient personalities in the one body (as opposed to Kenshin's two personalities).

Yeah, that's what it was based on.

Are you looking for a protagonist who's always like this? Or is it acceptable for them to mature into this?

I ended up (for most episodes) skipping to the point where he changes personality.

Maturing into it is just as good, as long as it is for a good part of the series.

Double posting is against the rules. Oh, and you might like Berserk. The main protagonist isn't like that, but one of the protagonists is.

I posted once and then was returned to the thread where I saw another post.

Protagonist != Main Characters. Protagonist = The Main Character.

There can be multiple protagonists in a manga. Just because they're a protagonist doesn't mean they have to be THE main character.

Angel Heart - The lead guy, once you strip down all his comedy and perverted moments, he is like that.. some of the time...

BioMeat: Nectar - 2/3 of the main guys are like that. =D

Gokusen - A few of the lead guys are like that..

You requested for almost the same type of manga so many times, that I almost have nothing more to recommend ( not to mention I don't remember what I recommended before ).

What I have left:
Eternal Sabbath
Dolls
Pahanjip
Monster

I could think of more, but those would be yaoi titles.
