The September issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine is revealing on Saturday that Kyousuke Motomi's Dengeki Daisy shōjo romance manga will end in the magazine's November issue, which is scheduled to ship in Japan on October 12.

Viz licensed the manga under the Shojo Beat imprint. The manga revolves around Teru Kurebayashi, a high school student who has lost both her parents and most recently, her older brother. Per her older brother's last wish, Teru now communicates via text messages with a mysterious yet supportive confidant named "Daisy." Then one day, Teru accidentally breaks a window at school and agrees to pay for it by helping the school janitor Kurosaki with chores around the school. Kurosaki is very strict, and seems to be hiding something from Teru.

Motomi began the manga in Betsucomi in 2007, and Shogakukan published the 14th Japanese compiled volume in June. Viz Media published the 12th compiled volume in North America in May. Both the English and Japanese versions of the manga have ranked on the lists of top-selling books in their respective countries.

Viz Media also published Motomi's two-volume Beast Master series in 2009-2010.

The September issue of Betsucomi also revealed that Shizuki Fujisawa's Boku to Kimi to de Niji ni Naru manga will also end in the magazine's November issue.

Thanks for the info, Doc! I just hope that MOTOMI Kyousuke-sensei will make up a decent conclusion to her most elaborate series.

I used to mourn for one month after Faster than a Kiss ended. Probably mourn for months when DD ends. Though i should say that it should ended 2 volumes ago.

This is both happy and sad.

Happy because it is about time for the series to end...

but sad because its another great series ending at the same time. All the good shoujo series have ended or just about to and I haven't found anything new that is as good as them yet

Akatsuki no Yona[/end-spam]

Though, on topic; Yay, finally! I used to worship this - it was the third manga I ever read, to be honest. Though recently, as I've gained more experience with manga and as the series has progressed, I seem to be getting less and less enjoyment out of it. Honestly, now it just feels like one of those oh-so-annoying "Tell me when they finally hook up" type mangas. Seriously! Both components of the main couple became fully aware that they were mutually in love somewhere between chapters 5 and 15. HOW ARE THEY NOT TOGETHER YET!
Though maybe they are together now. I stopped reading at, like, chapter 49-ish. I think. Still though, as much as I loved - and still love - it, I'm glad to see that Motomi-sensei is finally putting the series out of it's misery. I'll probably read it once it's completely scanlated.
Or camp the bookstore and read it there (since I'm too broke to buy it and manga is way too expensive here for how much time it takes to read a volume) if shoujo beat comes out with it first.

Thanks for the update, Dr. Love! ^^

good, shoujos should really never keep dragging on even when they're good (looking at you, Skip Beat)... kinda lost touch with this one due to the whole hacking thing , but from the get-go that was one of its draws. Things with intrigue are hard to keep up with monthly (*stares at Pandora Hearts*), so i'm glad it's coming to an end. Get together and be happy, wooo~

Why it takes so long: Kurosaki's guilt, the age difference, his stated desire to become a 'better man' before he confesses (though he doesn't really change much in the end). All legit reasons IMO and honestly I don't see why the timing of the official confession even matters - they act so much like a couple throughout the series that them being 'officially together' was essentially irrelevant.

I understand why people may have gotten bored with the hacker parts - they won't appeal to shoujo fans who are only interested in reading straight-up romance. Personally I really like the mystery element of the plot and all the other ways in which this differs from your typical shoujo. Thank god these people have something going on in their lives other than just worrying about love rivals and 'why is my heart bearing this way', etc.. And I say this as a Bokura ga Ita fan.

So ultimately... for me, the story has been paced very well, and I don't know that I would change anything about it. I hope that the ending lives up to my expectations. smile
