Sorry, the only truly cool robots I can think of aren't in the manga world.

Canti (the FLCL robot) is pretty awesome. I think my favorite in manga is Chachamaru from Negima though.

I'll amend my previous statements. I had totally forgotten about that robot, and he's pretty cool. Coolest in the manga/anime world anyway.
