If this has been suggested before, then I aplogize. -w- But I searched and found nothing. Maybe worded differently? But how can you word "music genre" differently? -___-

ANYWAYS...

It's straight forward. ;P And I'm too damn lazy to type. XP

Oh, genre...

Well, the front page already discussed the whole "topical/profession" genre and it was put on hold, so music would fit into that category quite well if there ever arise a need for it.

I only searched "music" and came up with this...

That one was for a Music section for the forums not a music genre for manga...

well, it is a good idea(good as in more useful than the harem genre that was added bigrazz ) but it all depends on the mods now since they did say "no more new genres"

How many series would even have "music" as a genre?

Rockin' heaven,Full moon wo sagashite,Beck, Detroit metal city, Charisma doll, Kaikan Phrase, Kaine, Othello, Nana,Nodame and all the other pop singer manga, and WAY more, these are just off the top of my head.

I really like the idea and I guess a specific genre would be better for finding what you want, the topical genre seems waay too broad and way too unspecific.
My two cents smile

An other method to search is a tag system, it will be more usefull than more genre

Manick mentioned that he was considering putting in a "tag" or "keyword" method (he said that he had like 50 words that describe just about any storyline), but maybe he has other priorities on the site right now? none

I agree with Heavennevae, "topical" is too vague. >_<;

I think there are plenty of series that have music as a main theme to make a genre out of it. ;P I can add more to the list Heavennevae made. :3 But I'm a lazy typer, so bleh

Seconded. However, if you wanted to get all complicated, you could have "topical" as a genre but then have sub-topics within it for subjects that aren't as blatantly popular as, say, romance or sports. For example, stuff like cooking or music, all of the things that would've been bunched all together under a general "topical" would still be part of that genre, just with divisions in it easier to use. It would please those who want those genres to be acknowledged, as well as those who prefer the general "topical" genre.

Then again, that could get pretty complicated. But anyway, just another idee.

I think the music genre is a lot more...efficient than a topical one.

We have sports, so then why not music too...? (plus the more categorizing, the easier to find the kind of series you want eyes )
