Hello everyone! Well.. basically, this is a giant rant thread. Post here complaints about star testing, how you did last year, when you have it this year, ect. Yeahh..

Anyway, I have star testing tomorrow. -Head on desk- I always do really well every year (99% in Language Arts, 89% in Math, and 76% in Science) but its a pain. I mean, I have to get up early, and go there for 4 bloody hours everyday. Its annoying. It'll go all the way to Friday, too. Its annoying.

So, anyone here young enough to still go to star testing aside from me?

Woo hoo, star testing. I haven't done it in 3 years, but I enjoyed it, seeing as it was minimum days and I didn't have to study for the tests. They essentially are measurements to determine how much money your school gets and little more.

I finally finished it last year. My school only has them for four days of the week though, so tomorrow I still have to go to school at the normal time (the rest of the week I get to sleep until 12:05. Feel free to hate me.)

I never really minded them that much, I always did extremely well in the language arts (95-99%), and decent in the others, a little lower in math and a little higher in science than you. I think I got in the 97% the year that had world history too, although I spent about a month complaining about how it was essentially European/American history and contained about four questions from the rest of the world combined. I get bitter about things like that. Anyway, besides some of the illogical things that surround it (for example, the fact that funding gets cut if schools do badly, which to me is an indicator that it probably needs more), it's nothing more than a little bit of time wasted and some days without normal classes.

Last few years, I aced them as always. (when I say ace, I mean that I missed between two and zero problems).

This year, I'm a senior, and I don't have to bother. Which sucks. Because those are easy and allow for a lot of spare time to dick around in. Now I've got to do real work, even if it is only minimum days.

An acronym for Standardized Testing And Reporting. The "test" part is a bit redundant, like ATM Machine.

I would assume that it's unique to the US and possibly certain states as well, but I don't actually know. I honestly never cared enough to find out.

My school is so gay. They changed stuff around so now star testing takes place over 3 weeks and all the days are the same length as normal, so no short days. Four out of five days are block schedule. You take the test of a subject in the respective class (eg. math test in math class). All other classes will continue as normal only longer, so learning is not interupted. Friday is a normal day.

Plus I'm a sophomore, and thats the year the most star testing is done. Life sucks hard sometimes. mad

It would be that way at my school, but the state (California) was like, "Whoa, no school for seniors? NOT SO FAST!" and put the foot down.

And Me, who went to school in Sacramento, said "F*** you, I'm not coming."

I already took my testing and yeah it's a pain in the ass, but next year the my state might pass a law that says I don't have to do it if I don't want so I'm crossing my fingers. This whole No Child Left Behind Act is just dumb though. It's the governments way of saying "Our youth are better than yours because we lower our test standards so low that even babies can pass." Every year they make the tests easier and easier so that the test scores will improve. If they want to make sure you're smart enough to go on to the next grade then they already have something called the finals for that.
