Well, I do learn some Japanese not just from reading manga and watching anime, but I use babelfish (an online text translation site) and by using a kanji/romanji converting site to learn the language. But right now, I'm still learning.

Manga/anime inspired me to learn Japanese. By now, I know 2 languages, English and my native language. I like Japanese, why not learning it? ^^
Knowing more than English as a foreign language is benefit to me, after I realize that I should learn Japanese, I plan on using it to earn a living. Maybe I should translate some books and publish and earn a lot ^^, or maybe I should write books myself.
It's still a dream, though ;)

Yay~, I was the first one to vote.
And I'm with you, I'm already learning 3+ languages in school. No way I'm taking another one.

There's a college course for Japanese around where I live that I could take even though I'm in high school but no matter how hard I pester my parents, they just keep avoiding giving me an answer on whether or no they will let me take it. I'll be taking German I next year too so i doubt I will end up learning Japanese before I turn 18. I could always take an online course for free but i usually need the help of a teacher to understand a new language, I bet Spanish would be easy to learn on my own though. After I learn Japanese I want to learn Korean cuz of all the awesome online games that are in Korean.

Well... even before all this, I already know how to speak English and Chinese because I'm Chinese and I live in the US. I can sort of pick up some sentences in Japanese in the anime, but other than that, I haven't taken the time to actually learn it.
Still growing.

i took a japanese class over summer at the local college and learned more than i thought i would and i've been constantly learning korean since i'm korean myself and although i don't think i could be considered fluent i'm studying even more now that i got SAT 2s to deal with this year. but manhwa has helped inspire me to study korean harder, so i guess i can say two languages . raws ftw.
chinese can come after i get through the first two. it might be a little easier afterwards with the hanja and kanji to help me partially define things. or should it be the other way around? meh.

Then that's because we both voted on the same thing...
@ahoaho: Then why don't YOU give me a poll suggestion? And a good one at that...

hm.. I want to learn Chinese (and I'm trying.. kind of), but it has nothing to do with manga, so I guess that doesn't really count. =P

trying to learn japanese because i hope to go over for a year with a program i found.
though its hard to get off the ground and do not know if i want to spend the money on programs like "rosette stone" which i have heard is good and bad...
two of friends can pretty much speak/read/understand chinese/japanese so picking it up has always been something i wanted to do
i took french is high school, and it was boring and stupid
took german in college and actualy understand a decent amount of it, my sister is minoring in german and has been over there with school program for about a month and a half
edit, didnt see anywhere, how long do these site polls usualy stay up? few weeks, a month?

Lack of creativity?
I try to think of a good one.

I want to learn it so I can read manga raws. (But so far the only part I can read is 'ahhhhh ahhhhhhh nnnng' in sex scenes)
I've only taken a quarter of Japanese class (10 weeks). I can read and write Hiragana and Katakana. I can speak some simple phrases in formal form.

I've learnt quite a bit of Japanese due to Anime. It is a side-effect of watching a large amount of it. I am far from fluent, can't read or write it, but I can watch anime raws and understand enough for it to be enjoyable.
