Basara: Some comes and goes, but "Basara" always remain as one of my top five fav mangas. I love the world of its & practically everything inside.

Hoshi no Koe: One of the most romantic and beautiful love stories. I liked the anime, & after I read the manga, I felt in love deeper with it. X>

Kaze Hikaru: In my thought, "Kaze Hikaru" is not much different from other shoujo mangas, yet it IS very different. I simply love it.

One Piece: Don't know what to say. I love it. :">

Saiyuki (all parts): <as above> ^^'

There are many many more. I'm not even sure about the last two series. It's true that I love them, but maybe not THAT much. Well...

Naruto - Yes, I am a Narutard, however I know proper English and I tend to avoid confrontations. I dislike the idiots who give Naruto fans a bad name.

666 Satan (O-Parts Hunter) - It rocks, it really does. It's nothing like Naruto and I suggest picking it up.

Samurai Deeper Kyo - Good art, great story (even if the ending could have been better) and I loved the character devolpment. It's got a well rounded plot and it covers most details. The art is also superb for it being his/her first manga.

Skip Beat! - My number one shoujo choice. Hey, I'm a girl, I have to have at least one. XD It's a great series, great art, story, characters.

Chocolat - One of my new favorites and another shoujo. It's got a good story and lovely art, probably some of the best I've seen.

Warn: Banned

Naruto
Blame!
Bleach
Houshin Engi
20th Century Boys

Each is very unique. However, if you desire a manga with more art work, read Blame!. The art is just amazing.

1. Monster - As far as I am concerned, this is without a doubt my favorite manga ever. The artwork isn't amazing but damn it if the story doesn't make up for it. Intrigue is a large part of the manga, and plot twists come from every direction. Another thing which makes this manga great is the deep character development, it's extremely interesting to see how the characters evolve through the manga.. in the end, it's just a really powerful manga with some truly powerful scenes throughout.. the ending is everything I could've ever hoped for.

2. Vagabond - Epic.. simply epic.. not a better word could be used to describe this samurai manga. The artwork is beautiful and the battles are intense, but what makes this so great is the evolution of the main character, as you know he will one day turn into something great since the manga is based on history. Everything about this is top-notch, simply put.

3. Sanctuary - Another manga which "epic" is a good term for. Not only is it entertaining, but it really makes you think about the state of the world we live in, and makes you admire the main characters who set out to change it. The whole ride is a rollercoaster, and it's gripping all the way.

4. Hajime no Ippo - If I was going to put one shounen manga on this list, it would be Hajime no Ippo, for sure. It's been running now for about 80 volumes and has no sign of stopping... it doesn't do anything out of the norm for a shounen manga, but it doesn't have to since it does everything it should particularly well. The emotional and awe inspiring fights, the fantastic characters, the romance.. it's all there and it's done well.

5. Ai-Ren - To be honest, this manga isn't particularly well done for a romance manga. It's not your usual shounen romance where the main character is an idiot and suddenly gets a supermodel girlfriend, etc., and doesn't feature all the things that you would come to expect with this sort of manga. What makes this manga so great is the emotions it casts over you.. because this manga is hella sad. After finishing the 5 volumes of this I got depressed for a while because it was that depressing. As a whole, nothing here is that amazing, it's not particularly mysterious, parts of the story don't fit together well, plot pieces are left open, but in the end, the emotions it gives the reader overcome all of that and really leaves an impression.

Hmm,

1. Hajime no Ippo- love everything about it, the old school art, the characters, storyline, Ippo can't be beat in my estimation.

2. Iron Wok Jan- Jan is a total maniac! Do not read this manga if you're a card carrying member of PETA, though, it has some brutal scenes in it.

3. Lone Wolf and Cub- Awesome story, not to be missed.

4. GTO- Onizuka is one of the best characters in any manga.

5. Old Boy- A real pins and needles story.

6. Perfect Girl Evolution (Wallflower)- Funny as all get out. Sunako is my hero.

It's so funny, I used to read nothing but yaoi and shoujo, and my favorite manga is a boxing manga. My advice to anyone starting out is not to limit yourself to a particular genre, because you'll be surprised at how much great stuff you'll miss.
