I only checked "wait 'til the last day" because if I have something due in mere hours I've already decided not to do it.

aye...constant pressure on the due date just kinda squeeze the creativity juice from your body....the only thing i hate about this is that i usually have to stay up 'til 1-2 am or the worst case scenario, all night, to complete my assignment...also, it's kind stingy when you suddenly remember that you forgot to put something important in your final work, or came up with a wonderfully smart idea a couple of hours after the due date...

I hate coming up with incredibly smart ideas for a project that's already due and turned in. It's just so sad. Anyways when I used to do my hw (am still in school) I'd wait until the last few hours of the day before it's due. Or I'd even do it the period before the period it was due if it was incredibly short and easy. But, now I don't even do my hw until it's past due. I wonder if I'll graduate.

I used to NEVER do my homework... and I learned a huge number of tactics to trick the professor into believing that I did them or that I had a really good reason not to.
But that was back in the time when homework didn't mean much, and it was just something kids had to do to "practice" or something like that. (And I still had excellent grades, if I didn't most of my tactics wouldn't have been possible)
Now that my homework is actually consistent projects with usually more than 2 people involved. It's just not possible to procrastinate.
First the sheer volume of the work makes it totally impossible for someone to rush through and finish it in an allnighter. The shortest rush would probably be around 48h long. And no (normal) human being would be able to stay up for 2 successive nights and work on the same thing for 48 successive hours.
And second, there are (usually) people that are relying on my work to do theirs. If I do mine at the last minute, they just wouldn't have time to do theirs. And I'm not just being considerate, I can get into deep trouble if my team mates think that I'm not serious enough and decide to kick me out or something. And if they don't do their part I'd still be not finished with my project anyway...

But in the rare cases where I still have the possibility to procrastinate I still do so and enjoy it lol...

Usually 2-3 days before for me, but I've done stuff on the last day many times. And looking at the poll, almost all of us procrastinate to some degree!

people who purposely choose to procrastinate actually work better when under pressure, that's why we procrastinate. I mean, if one knew he would not be able to finish something ,why would he delay its completion? It's like putting yourself in hot water.
So, people who purposely and consciously delay their work/activity/project's completion..actually procrastinate because this works better for them. If you are a student and have tried working and finishing a paper requirement months?weeks before its due date; then working again on a paper requirement where you had to cram..just compare scores. It will tell you whether you are more efficient when you procrastinate or not.

Oh, my answer to this thread is "I procrastinate a lot."

I wait till the last hours, even now, it's 3:45 am and instead of doing a really long summary (for my 7am class, I have to go an hour early, tough) I'm here >_> I should get to it now...
