I didn't see where to post suggestions on this in the forum, so sorry if this a duplicate thread.
My thoughts on how to run this, for user based recommendation:
- To help prevent users from spamming all manga with their favorite series in the whole wide world as their suggestion. Add a cap, a user can only recommend a single series say: 30 times?
-Sorting, Sort by number of people that have suggested it, and for ties, put the series with a higher Bayesian Average first. I would say also to only add a series if more than two people have suggested it. But for lesser known series, it's probably hard to get anyone to write recommendations for it, much less share have the same recommendations. I would also like to be able to see a number next to the series to know how many times it was recommended (over just making it more green). So I can know, was it the suggestion of one person, or the suggestion of 30 people, or a computer generated suggestion?
And just like comments, a way for people to check if the recommendation is good or bad. Checking it "good" adds to the counter of people that recommend it. Bad, so that there is an indicator if a recommendation is out of line and should be removed. Like someone thinking it would be funny to suggest a shotacon manga with plenty of rape and incest, for a manga that was a slice of life heartwarming story about good family values. Etc

Brilliant! I'd love to see this. There's already some problems with the recs as it is, (some suggestions are nothing like the manga you looked up), and it's a nice feature, but doing the things Bunny mentioned could save the site from a load of messy crap, kinda like Wikipedia in a way.

Ok, this seems really basic so forgive me if it's been posted in triplicate already, but I would like to shrink the recommendation list on a series page back down after expanding it without having to refresh the page. Also forgive me if this feature exists and I'm just a blind dumb ass.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but whenever I expand the recommendation list and look through it, the bright green background sort of hurt my eyes after looking at it for some time. This isn't a problem if the list is short but for like Bleach, the list is enormous. I realize that the color is to indicate how often a manga has been recommended, but the bright green seems to exhaust my eyes and even give me headaches. Perhaps a different green color can be used instead (like a bit darker shade of green instead of being bright)?

voting on a usefullness of a recomendation is a good idea...
votes can be counted and used as a reference to other series.
I went through several lists of recommendations and found them not accurate(sometimes way off)...
Maybe "tag" system should be applied to every series...(gener is one thing, but plot keywords, or content could help find things missed cause of gener preferences )
If google, imdb, youtube, torrent sites use tags to relate bigger things to each other, it could be used with somethin like manga series, i'll bet...
I'm not pro at this though it's just an observation...

a new suggestion is to remove suggestions that you've already read or already reading.
That would probably reduce the list.
like if I look up Bleach and I've already read death note, you could take it off the recommendations when I look it up. I'm thinking this is gonna take a tons more of coding so just an idea.

What about showing the list status symbols in the recommendations list? So if I look at a recommendations list, I can see what series are on my "reading list", "wish list," etc.

I was just about to post something like this, and found this topic. I was kind of surprised after finding Ichigo 100% on the recommendation list for Oretama
