I voted 25-30 but any age as long as you're willing to take care of a child (or children) for 18+ years

I voted 25-30 because somehow all the females on my mother's side of the family get pregnant before 20. And having more than 30 cousins that run around crazily or are committing a crime or already have, or wait worst are thinking of something big to do in 10 years :sighs:... proves to me that you should only have a child once you have a stable income and home meaning you're ready to actually take the responsibility of a parent and be just that a parent.
I'm planning on having my first child when I'm 25 if something goes wrong I blame hormones and family genetics

i'd say it doesn't matter so much age as it does when you are able to provide them with steady support, be it financially or psychological.
Exactly.
My mother was 18 when she had me, and my father was 30 at the time. I think they raised me well, might have to do with my father having a set career and my mother being head-strong, but if you are able to provide your children with a stable home, are economically stable, and be there for them emotionally, age doesn't matter much. =)

Probably mid-20s. The risks of pregnancy+ the fetus increase if the mother is around her mid thirties.
My mother was pregnant with my youngest brother when she was 40. quite late isn't it?

yep, 40 years of difference is way too much for a mother-son trying to rapport each other. When he'll be 20 she'll be 60: feeling more like a grandma than a mother in both aspect and behaviour (normally, but i wish you she can be an "enlightened one" )
My mum was 38 when she had me
and we're both quite normal.
Mum and dad certainly don't treat me like a grandchild; I don't get spoiled that much! I wish.
Ahem.
There is also a 22 year age difference between me and my oldest brother. We bonded more like... an uncle and niece, maybe? But we love each other and get along all the same. I get spoiled the most by him

Sorry, I laughed at your last message . Don't worry you'll find her soon!
Well, my mother had me at 31, which I think is at the border. I personally would like to have children when I'm 27-28...it's a nice age to make babies XD

The appropriate age has to do with mental state and nothing to do with physical age. =)

/agree... but if the poll is talking about mental maturity then commonly, i would say the majority of 25+ are mature enough to handle pregnancy and make proper choices.

I voted for 25-30, but 30-35 works as well.
In fact, I say 25-40 Especially because nowadays, it's becoming more accepted to have children when your in early 40s ( I think )
I think around the 18-25 range is where most people try to settle into a decent job before thinking about a family, because lets face it, it's not going to be easy to raise a family, especially if you have financial problems.

I don't think age really matter tbh ~ when you're ready, you are ready ^^;
If you get married at 16 and want to have a child, great! If you have a child later on great! =)
As long as you are a good parent, and not a neglectful one, it doesn't matter ~

25 - 30
My mother was 25 when she got me (i'm the eldest)
The age just seems appropiate. It makes your parents neither very young or very old.

Physically healthy and not past expiration?
Stable income and relationships?
Plenty of time and love to devote to the prospective child?
Knows that she wants a child, and knew it prior to the pregnancy?
If the answers are all 'yes', then age doesn't really matter. Naturally, someone who actually can qualify for those would tend to fall around 25-35 in western nations.

I think it varies from person to person. Personal maturity is the biggest question: are you ready to devote a substantial part of your life to looking after a small helpless being, utterly dependent on you? Without going insane? For the question of stability, well, babies come in their own time. There is no convenient time to have a baby.
I like Silver-vixi's answer......including that it includes marriage as a prerequisite. To echo an earlier post.....father of my children, where are you?
