It seems that many people say that they have a high IQ. So, I wanted to see how the IQ values would be spread here at mu. If you wanna discuss about the meaning of IQ, do so, but perhaps first go and inform yourself e.g. at wikipedia before we get another meaningless discussion roll eyes (well, fortunately it's the chatter box here...)

PS: Of course most have posted their IQ values in the other thread, i know...

Please.... do not ask. I took one on Sparknotes.....two actually. Two years before my IQ was 130, yesterday, My IQ was 60........barely registered as mentally capable...... sad

Of course Sparknotes IQ is not accurate. If you really want to know. You have to take the Stanford-Binet test or such.

you could also contact the MENSA society.

Alrighty. I just finished taking this test, and it says I got
Quote
Number of right answers= 56 (out of 60)

Your Intelligence Quotient in this test at least.. IQ= 128

So yup...what ever the hell that means.

I also took the mensa practice test and got 7 out of 12 although I found the test difficult. Maybe I'd do better if I weren't stoned and super tired. lol But I doubt it. ;)

I took the first two tests listed on the wikipedia page for IQ. For this test, my results were 57/60 and my IQ rated as 130. For this test, my IQ was rated as 126.

So I suppose that my IQ is in the high 120's... In the other thread I said my IQ was in the 130's according to tests from a couple years ago. I really am getting dumber day by day. sad

Some of those questions (?) were so hard... I know I'm supposed to be figuring out a pattern, but I just don't see it.

I tried that test to... It was actually pretty easy,(and boring... are you sure they are not just checking if we are drunk?)
I did 60/60 so according to them I have at least 135 of IQ... that's an IQ test of very low ceiling. And as I said before I don't take that result seriously as I don't believe in those tests...

@lilchocunut, for that one, from left to right, up to down:
all the spikes that "move" from the first one on the line to make the second one are removed...
or that's how I saw it...

Honestly...how the heck do they figure those things test intelligence?? The two I took were ALL pattern recognition (scored 127 & 130). I guess they're trying to even out any language/cultural differences but goodness, there's a lot more to intelligence than freaking pattern recognition!! dead Those things gave me a headache.

I just want to say. Do not trust internet I.Q. tests.

99% of them are scams to get you to do something else, even if you don't realize it (Such as giving your e-mail addy).

The best thing to do is get a legal one done.

Meh...correct that to "Do not trust tests" and I'll be right there with you. (^_~)

I have no reason to get an official one done, other than curiosity, and I'm not curious enough to spend money on it.

I agree with that one..I see no point in spending money to find out my IQ... I'm smart enough to tie my shoelaces...make myself food...do my job...clean my self...pay my bills...and I think I'm good enough as is biggrin

IMHO, it's not the Internet IQ tests that are a scam... It's IQ tests as a whole...
I mean they are supposed to test what? your logic? well I could, for example, get a totally different answer than the one they where waiting for yet logical in it's own way. And actually I think that people that are able to think "different" are those who have the greatest potential for great achievement.
And if it is to test stuff like language skills, what about people like me? I have no real native tongue, I learned dozens of languages when I was kid, forgot most of them... and I don't have one of the 4 remaining I can use that I can say I'm a master at... does that make dumber than someone that can only speak one language perfectly? I don't feel that way...
Is the ability to do relatively simple mathematic operation mentally a form of intelligence? maybe... but what's the point? Calculators can do that for you... and I've never been the best at that stuff... yet nobody was better than me in math. I just leave the dumb math to the calculator, and concentrate on solving the real question...
And I just don't understand how they can give us sometimes math exams where we can't use a calculator... I mean that's so STUPID. What are tests for? to test our ability in a close to real-life situation or test our ability to do math while stranded on a deserted island? I'm sure that the being able to find the square root of a 23 digit number is so going to help you catch that fish...
In a real life situation, you'll have access to all the material you might need, including computers, Internet, books, calculators help from friends etc...
anyway... IMO, all tests are stupid and useless, some more than others... and IQ tests are actually the worst in my book... I know we don't any other alternative right now. Doesn't mean we shouldn't look for one, and take the results from those tests as if they where divine revelation.

I took that test out of curiosity... but don't worry about my e-mail... I have 10 different emails... each one has it purpose, and one of them is a spam box. (and they didn't ask for any e-mail address anyway)

P.S. I may have said stupid stuff in this post, please don't mind it... I'm just venting my frustration at the education system... and the fact that I didn't sleep last night and that it's already 2 am here is not helping... Sorry need to go to sleep... after this last chapter...

Building on what Kaioh said (in a different direction), I don't even think "IQ" matters. What you do matters more. Or more precisely, your results matter more than your potential; what you actually do achieve is more important than what you might be able to achieve. To be blunt, does it make it any sense to get a shitty grade and then say to yourself, "I have the highest IQ in the class"?
But since it's 3:00 am and I'm procrastinating, I'll take the quiz anyways!
http://www.intershop.it/testqi/testqi1/iqtest1.htm ... My eyes!!! dead
results = 119 (Put in an age < 16 to get results in a different language. ^_^ Dunno if it's Italian or what.)
The mensa practice one is more fun.
