Just a small suggestion, but sometimes I just want to look at a cover closer, because some covers look different when they're re-sized. So, could it be possible to make it so that you could enlarge them somehow?

By either going with your mouse on top of the cover, and it suddenly appears enlarged, or by clicking it...

Wouldn't it clash with the layout?

Open in a pop-up window?

I've seen several sites do that.

And i support it, in that case.

Yes, kinda like that. It could be in another way though. I just want to see them enlarged. laugh

Kinda like how they do on Sankaku Complex, right?

That would be very useful. I support it.

And it gives me an idea for another thing we could have (Although I doubt it'll pass, it wouldn't hurt if I posted it).

Using a system like Getchu uses (people who don't play hentai games probably have no idea what I'm talking about...) would actually be kind of nice. I'm sure that most uploaders are forced to upload images that are already fairly small, though (like the thumbnails from Amazon or other online stores).

That sounds nice.

Yep, no idea. And that's just because I couldn't get the hentai games on when I downloaded them... no

I upload them from the manga I download, so they're big.

Have you uploaded a cover pic before? You don't need to resize them at all to upload the pic, since the site does it automatically. Heck it even says it right on the uploading part,

Image
Here you will specify an image that will be shown on this series' info page. The image will automatically be resized to fit in the page. You may use either PNG, JPG/JPEG, or GIF formats.

Making the cover pic larger seems kinda interesting, there are some series I'd definitely want a larger picture so I can identify what the name really is. So now's just a matter of if there's enough space to store the enlarged version since the uploaded pictures seeemed to be just the reduced version.

Some sites use it and I support the idea, just don't let it get out of hand

*sigh* you guys seem to think that every series on here has been scanslated and has large pics (if it's been scanned in, then just download chapter 1 if you want to see the cover so badly, geez). I'm talking about the vast majority of entries in this database. Things that no one has heard of from authors that no one reads. THOSE projects don't have large cover pics available because the only ones you're ever going to find online are from Amazon.co.jp and they're tiny.

It wasn't even a knock on the idea, just a 'there are lots of people who want to see covers of non-translated manga, and this probably won't help them much' comment.

There are plenty of sites that have thousands of series that aren't even close to being scanlated and a good portion of them have been added to this site. They all have full page covers as well and they're the exact kind of things that "no one reads".

And amazon.co.jp is not the only place to find cover pics. The internet is bigger than you think.

You just latch on to opinions you don't agree with like an angry little chihuahua, don't you. Clearly my point is invalid because you haven't come across ANY tiny cover scans in your exhaustive search over your unimaginably vast internet for unknown manga to add to the database (which you've apparently found so often). Perhaps I've simply been extremely unlucky in my cover scan finding, as I've come across 2 (as in 'too many to list', hahahaha, made a pun) manga that have never been translated by anyone, aren't on Share, Winny, or PD, and have nothing but a 10 year old thumbnail image on a discontinued webstore page to show me what they look like.

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't attempt to discount my constructive criticism, as I've done nothing to make my opinion any less valid than your own (aside from not being rude, which I guess could sway some people). I agree with the idea, however if you can find a full size cover scan with a Japanese Google images search by looking through 12 pages, then there's no reason that anyone even needs such an option in the first place. Copy and pasting the Japanese-looking characters into the Google search bar and looking for what appears to be a cover scan isn't exactly a specialized skill.

I fully support this idea. And in regards to the little debate between SnoopyCool and Greydrak, I'm with GreyDrak on this. And even if there are going to be some manga titles without a larger image, so what? That's bound to happen.
And as for the Google Image Search remark, why not have it even more accessible through this site? There's no harm in that...

Please re-read my previous posts and find where I said anything about there being no small manga cover pics in the world.

I merely stated that there are plenty of series with large cover pics available on the internet including series that people have not started scanlations on.

No one's being rude to you, so perhaps you should try and look at things with less zeal and more on the facts. It is a big world, it's easier to miss out on things than you think.

Besides, the objective of this suggestion isn't so everyone go and download couple mb worth of pages each time they want to see a slightly bigger version of the cover pic in the info page. It's just a bigger cover pic as an option and will still be up to the community to find the pics and upload them. If no large version can be found then so be it for that series, it'll just have to do until someone finds a bigger one later on.
