I normally hate HATE Yaoi/Yuri/Gender Benders, probably the only girl in the world who does, but I really liked HEN and Love in the Mask

I dislike ecchi, but Get Backers is still one of my favourite shounen manga.

I don't have much of a fondness for gender-bender romances (non-romance gender-benders are fine) because it makes the love story seem so fake, but I'm really fond of Flower Flower. Too bad it was discontinued.

I never would have thought that I would like a story in which a woman has a sexual relationship with two men at the same time, but Aisuru Hito proved me wrong.

I'm not a big fan of shounen series that consist mostly of training, battles, and power-ups, but I love Katekyou Hitman Reborn!. (It doesn't hurt that 90% of the characters are bishounen, including the villains.)

If someone had recommended to me a story in which a college student regularly professes his love for a 12-year-old boy, and repeatedly attempts to hug and kiss him, I'd have thought they were sick, but Loveless is one of the best series I have read.

and PRINCESS TUTU ANIME with everything, being a shoujo magic girl with the power of ballet (...)

Second this. Watching it now, and I love it.

Can't believe I forgot to mention Loveless! I avoided it like the plague for 2 whole years, until at least 12 different people (and the MU database) assured me it wasn't shotacon. Finally started on it a year or so back, reading everything that was scanlated in one go. A very interesting story; definitely not some trashy shotacon manga.

I normally don't like tsundere girls in shoujo. But somehow, I don't mind Misaki in Kaichou wa Maid-sama XD

I don't like the bully/queen bee archetype, but Nanami from Shoujo Kakumei Utena is the exception (going by the anime).
Second what was said about Kojika. Don't normally like loli, though I read it, or find the loli's adorable, but this is a huge exception.

I don't like mecha, but I enjoyed watching Code Geass very much.

Same here.

Also, I usually hate when the protagonist of a shoujo is supposed to be a concentrate of purity + innocence + hardwork + honesty etc. but I loved Fruit Basket.
Well, maybe she turned out to have much more depth as a character eventually, and it was my first manga ever, so I'm still fond of it... =')
