I've been told I'm smart and that I receive my intellectual
skills from my parents...but I think I lack common sense
on few occasions. I'm more of a take-a-risk person,
and follow your gut sort of individual. So I don't
think I'm considered like..smart, but I'm maybe
witty..? Does that make sense. O__O;

where do you guys take IQ tests?

IQ societies like Mensa give them. Psychologists and some schools also have them. You can find plenty on the internet, but those are generally easy and don't necessarily represent your true IQ average.

Alot of schools give them tests, but i highly doubt that everyone here is as smart as they say.

I do not doubt since most replies are of the "I might be smart, but I have X thing that holds me back", which is quite true most of the time. I find it interesting to see how a motivated, persevering and curious individual, regardless of intellect, can come to surpass a far smarter person. Smarts are as much an attitude, a perception of self and of others as is raw intellect.

Besides, the poll bases itself on "I take the hardest classes, so I must be smart". These classes aren't all that hard. They just daunt those with less motivation to get to them. Since these classes guarantee a better education, most will want to take them. Thus, you have many who will answer "I must be smart!"

Oh, if we're talking IQ, then I hit 140-145 most of the time.

I'm in advanced science classes, going to an engineering university until I get a masters in Physics then I guess I'll go on and make a few million just for the hell of it.

Yes, I am a human who is in the far left of the bell curve.

wtf... far Left? you mean far Right correct? Unless you are using some weird mirrored scale. O_O
Someone needs to learn some statistics. Clearly he does not even have 140-145.
bet the nub doesn't even know how to derive the normal distribution.
P.S. 145 is for nubs.
P.P.S. Masters is for nubs.

Though if it it calls for a witty remark or smart ass comment im there like superman.
(yes that was one of my lame ones. )

I voted dumb as a stick . Hate self propogation , its like masturbation . (note: im all for masturbation biggrin )

For this question I actually took the time to write a long, comprehensive, insightful and humorous piece of shit, but just when I had finished the final summary, I realised that I couldn't possibly post the entire thing for fear of becoming victim to horrible slander.

Thus (I'm trying to sound smart. And I'm not bitter, damnit!), without further ado, I present to you: The Summary.

When I'm not being bullied by my cousins into helping them with their math/physics/chemistry homework or kicking my friends' asses in poker or Who wants to be a millionaire, they're kicking my ass for being such a dimwit when it comes to everything else.

Short and sweet.

errr... I feel kind of lame for saying this, especially after the stories everyones posted, but I'm pretty average. I get average scores and thats the way it's always been. I'm not dumb but I'm not super smart either, and any good grades that I get usually come from working for it.

hehe... wish I was a genius, but sadly, my brain isn't wired that way.

Ngh!... But I just can't throw it all away...
So, since we've already established that while I... might admit to being in a rather pissy mood and that I feel absolutely no resentment or bitterness towards myself for being too afraid of slander, here's the
Evidence-of-dumbness-list:
Constantly hits her nose when opening doors. Once wrote an entire essay in Spanish (which is all good, only it was supposed to be in German). When she worked at a fast food resturant, she once served and adorable old lady one sausage and two... hehe... balls of mashed potao on a plate. She also had no idea why the old lady stared at her for so long without handing over the money. Constantly forgot to write her name on tests. Tends to call her boyfriend Timothy (This would actually belong to the subcategory "Evidence of meanness", had it not been for the fact that she has never known a Timothy and never calls him that during sex.). She will fall for any stupid joke her friends play on her and (though she is aware of their cruelty) she will never learn. She has once asked a customer what body part he was having trouble with (It should be noted that she works as an optician. And that she didn't realise until later the lewdness of that question.). When a friend said: Look! A poor dead pigeon! she looked UP. She drinks waay too much, which is a sign of dumbness in that she knows how much dumber she will be afterwards and in what poor state her liver will be a few years down the line. She didn't attend many classes in high school, and was thus dirt-poor for the better part of the three most important years of her youth, since students who have a high enough attendance receive money from the state where she lives. Despite this, she was too lazy to get a job in high school. She also...

...can't bring herself to make this list any longer.

She'll probably post the Evidence-intelligence-list when she has consumed a suitable amount of Ben and Jerry ice-cream.

Haha, my friends hate me for this, but I'm the kind of person who rarely turns in their homework just to see what they can get away with, ...but then I get A+ s for almost all my tests (never get below a B+) just cause I can remember it on paper.

and, I almost have straight A's due to my parents threatening to ground me from the computer if I get too many B's(or below), but I'm really not considered smart. Plus, they all have a 4.0, so compared to them, I am dumb.

Well, I'm in TaG, talented and gifted. I go to classes one grade higher. For example, I'm in Grade 9 but do Grade 10 Math, Science, etc... So yeah, I'm smart. ^^

lol, that's how i was in highschool. i was top of my class for junior and senoir high, and barely did a thing. i even got excepted to three different schools with scholarships, but i don't like bragging about stuff so i usually keep quiet about being smart (and i'm a introvert to boot, so people get the idea that i'm actually stupid )

Erm... yeah... I'm certainly in the "smart" category, regardless of my grades - which, by the way, qualify me as smart in this poll as well. I've been in a gifted program for the last eight years and was in French Immersion before that. I don't study, rarely do my homework, yet my marks are almost always above the class average.

Sadly for me, since (especially in my grade) there's an incredibly small "gifted" population in comparison to the "normal" students, I tend to have a stereotype of "you're smart, so you can do the whole project, since you'd want to anyway" cast on me in any non-gifted classes. Ah, the downsides of labelling children and the negative consequences to their social interactions never fail to amuse me. Hence the reason why almost all of my friends are also gifted.

I guess I'm considered smart, I average around 94 on report cards and such. But I'm not gifted or anything, I actually try pretty hard, and I also tend to make the stupidest mistakes (misreading the question, etc.)

But what I really hate about my position is, that people get overly ecstatic when I get a lower mark than them. Also, when I don't get a 90+ on an assignment, others will start going, "ohmygod... no WAY" it bothers me >.<

My stereotypical asian parents don't help much either... I bring home my report card, and they're just satisfied, not impressed. "Why isn't your average OVER 95?"

ARGHHHHH

I can probably get the 95 average if it weren't for English sad my only mark in the 80s

Yea, i know, i don't full doubt peoples intelect here, but in the high 130's - 150's?

Not a chance of so many people magicaly finding the same site that and happen to have the same IQ, let alone the fact that most of the discussions here are less then inteligent, granted, some are, and when they are, they go kinda deep, so its a chance some people might be, but i am betting my money on people lieing.

I don't believe in IQ tests. my scores ranged from 120-150 when I took different ones, shows how inaccurate those things are. Moreover, I don't believe being book-smart is too important at all in life. This is why I hope to achieve sort of a world-smart trait. (not happening so far)

"IB, therefore I Bs."

I'm in hard classes but I have absolutely no motivation to do my work...seriously, none...

...so you could say I'm smart intellectually but stupid scholastically.
