Hi all, last month, I tried Chat-Roulette and other similar chat sites.

Um, sorry guys, I just realized this probably belongs to +18 section. Sorry, I posted this is the wrong section. Can you move it please?

NOTE: Chat-Roulette and related sites should only be accessed by people OVER age 18! or 21!
There are too many perverts and is not safe for kids. Out of every 10 videos, 5 are naked people doing bad things....disgusting naked perverts.

First of all, since I don't want random people to hear or see my true image and voice, I disabled my microphone and I turned off my web cam completely.

Second, since certain sites like Chat-Roulette requires cam to be enabled, I use virtual webcam like this here.
Programs like this allows you to actually stream your choice of video or pic online. You can chose like the girl from the exorcist if you like. biggrin

Thirdly, if you happen to not use the web-cam and does not have anything on there, people will ignore you 95% of the time. What you need is a catchphrase. A shocking and yet funny one. And you must be ready to send it when you see someone normal. Not like some online pervert doing nasty things. Y'all know what I'm talking about. laugh

A phrase like: "Ewwww, no more old people"

or "Ewww stop abusing the internet" will get about 20-30% response back. I actually chatted with several people looking for girls, which I'm not, but my catchphrase got them interested. I, then engaged in a humorous conversation. From there, you can even become friends with people looking for other things.

Fourth, AVOID ANY link send by these people.

Fifth, you see a person doing the nasty, just click away

Sixth, for the love of God, report all perverts and help make the online chat system a clean one where it was designed to be.

Seventh, Do not give any personal information like birthday, or real name, or address.

Eighth, Make sure your microphone and video camera are disabled.

Ninth, this is optional, but install and turn on programs like proXPN to hide your IP address. proXPN, a free software, will mask your real IP address. This can also be used to watch continuous
Megavideo by switching the program on and off when the time is up. Who knows what kind of sites are actually recording your conversation and logging your IP. It's also dangerous if some users are able to hack into the site and see your IP.

Tenth[Update]: If you see a guy but also see his upper arms or shoulder are moving rapidly, don't ask him, click report and click next. Chances are he is doing what you think he is doing.

Eleventh[Update]: A guy lying on his back with a camera pointed at the middle or upper body is a pervert 80% of the time. click report and click next

Twelfth[Update]: Guy with no cloth on, even if he has his pants on are 60-80% chance perverts. Click away.

Thirteenth[update]: Beware, certain videos are fake. Hot girls or hot guys in a video cam might just be a mask.

Fourteenth: People are more likely to chat with you in the afternoon time than after dark. However, there are significantly more perverts too. So it's a trade off.

Fifteenth: Ok, you should definitely use a program to hide your IP. The new google map mash up exposes your location. This is it

Honestly, from my personal opinion, these kind of sites are not worth it. 50% of the time you'll see perverts. And only 1 out of 40 people are actually interested in just talking, like friends. And out of these, only half of which will last more than 3 minute conversation. And talking there made me appreciate the kind of security and stability our moderators and administrators has provided. MU has one of the safest forum I seen yet. So if you want to chat with strangers, MU is probably a better place to start. Once you know more about the person, you might move to chat sites and programs with higher level of function.

Yeah, but this is like tips for chat-R, that's like a poll for: would you go on?

I suppose that includes this. oh well, I just want to say some basic tips when using online chats like the mentioned. I mean it's a quite exciting and innovating concept, but poorly mobilized

Honestly, this whole setup is just a terrible idea.
