I only read them most of the time. If it's just the author ranting I tend to skip it.

Yeah I always do read them...as long as they contain a story...
But, if it's random advertisement and useless stuff, then I might(probably) skip it...^^

If it's about the main characters or a side character I enjoyed then I'll definitely read it. If it's a one-shot with nothing the to do with the main story it then depends on either how much I enjoyed the main story or if I like the summary. If I'll read the mangaka thanking assistance, editors, and/or promoting other works depends on how much I like what I've previously read by the mangaka and how entertaining it is to read. Some times those little "thank you" pages or "stories of what I did for my drama CD/ to gather materials/ at a meet-and-greet" are even more entertaining than the story you just read.

Most of the time I read the extras if it's a story. If it's not related to the main story, I might not read it right away and come back to it. I often get frustrated if I think that the extra is going to be related to the main story, but it's really just a separate one-shot.
If it's the mangaka's commentary I usually don't read it unless it's from one of my favorite mangaka's or I really loved the manga.

"Most of the time" unless it is just insane bickering. I wish Berserk and other self serious mangas had more omakes. The ones in Hellsing were something allright.
The ones in Angel Densetsu are the best author commentarys with Rurouni Kenshin being close behind. The best type of extra are the prototype oneshots.
Allways fascinating how they relate to the eventual series.

It depends on what the omake/extra is. If it's a story, sure. If it's about the author, maybe. I like reading their little anecdotes of real life sometimes.

I always read them, if they're translated.
