Suikoden Series. It's not about save the world or the princess, just conflicts between nation but almost every character (108 people + npc + enemies) have their own story.

Indeed, I concur. Suikoden II especially had one of the best villains in a RPG ever, he being Luca Blight.

Suikoden [series] and Legacy of Kain [series] have no equals.

FFVIII has a marvelous storyline...same with NFS: Most Wanted (really tight plot)...i like the tomb raider series, too, particularly the first ones (2)...

RPG games have an edge over storyline...strategic games like sims city or the sims allow you to create the story yourself...online games have REALLY lame storyline, seriously....most of the time they revolve around conflict between good & evil, or "one hero rises to take on the journey to save his world" archetype >_>

Hmm, may not be many people's favorite, but the Myst series has an excellent plot. (At least Myst, Riven and Exile, anyway. Haven't tried any of them since Uru or 4-5.) As others have mentioned, Okami is good from a storytelling standpoint. Also, the Half-Life series, of course.

...Have you read the title of this topic? Does this game have a good plot and storytelling? Or does engaging game play make it interesting?

Then create a topic for games that are defined by how fun they are to play! That would be a good place to bring up Fable, as well.

I like the OP song from silverstar story (Inoue Kikuko - Tsubasa), brings back memories.

honestly psx has much more decent rpg than any other console.
