As much as I prefer josei (hey, I'm 24) shojo is more readily available, and still really good, as long as it's not too childish It's a very, very thin advantage for josei.

I like shoujo more

This... And yeah, I'm a guy reading Shoujo/Josei, because Shounen/Seinen is too much "stupid ugly boy gets cutest girl(s) and saves the world" so I tend to avoid them. Though Shoujo isn't that far away...

Found some really childish Josei though.. But at least there's a slightly higher chance of getting something good from Josei.. Probably... It in the end it all boils down to the actual story

I honestly have more shoujo than josei, though I've recently fallen in love with unscanlated josei authors such as Nemu Youko, Kawakami Junko, Saiki Kumiko, etc.

And while I do enjoy josei on a wholly aesthetic level, the thing that defines it for me is that shoujo has more genre niches than josei does, so whereas Josei, more often than not, is heavily influenced by "slice-of-life romance" and the occasional yuri themes, shoujo usually branches off into fantasy/sci-fic/romance/adventure/thriller/etc.

I actually find myself laughing more in shoujo than w/ Josei (with the exception of Ikuemi Ryo, of course xD ), and I love to laugh........so shoujo for me.

If the definition of josei includes stories about young twenty-somethings, then that's what I like the best ('cause that's what I am). I'm at the point now where I'm not interested in Ribon and Nakayoshi series anymore, and even stories about young middle school and high school students aren't cutting it for me (when I do read such stories, the less time the characters spend at school the better). But since I can't find much women's manga about chicks my age I usually end up reading more risque shoujo written for older high school girls. Le sigh.

I think I probably prefer Shojou, but as I'm only eighteen perhaps josei isn't really for me just yet. I don't like reading stories about women in their mid-twenties in the office, because its not relevant to me at all.

But the josei I have read, like Midnight Secretary, seemed pretty good.

Oh no! Don't do that. Many mangas we think are josei because they seem to be more "mature" are actually shoujo, and their genre tags often switch back and forth as MU users edit them. I know there is at least one magazine half of whose mangas are labeled shoujo and the other half josei, even though that doesn't make sense, since the magazine determines the demographic.

Basically, what I mean is that there are good josei-like mangas that bear a shoujo tag, and you'd miss them if you don't give them a chance.

Shoujo, since I only read Josei every now and then.

I'll pick josei for storytelling and art which are more mature, realistic, and deep. Not that all josei titles are like that, by far.

But generally, a mixing of both, depending on my tastes. It depends more on the the series itself than the classification.

Josei is such a neglected genre, both in the scanlations world and English manga market. MOARR, I say.

Josei, cuts the cra....p and leaves the interesting parts ^^
shoujo is just ot full of sillynes and pull push going nowhere

to me, it feels more like josei has cut out just about everything...barely leaving anything there
i will agree with you on shoujo though
