How about NOT naming the mascots?
Just *group* them together like a crowd and leave the interpretation to the viewer.

Also the pacman thingy is too much.

Something like this (I'm not much of a designer)
Snip

Why the hell are updaters above scanlators?

They are more important to this site.

Hardly. ;/ I don't think someone who just goes and takes 5 seconds of their lives to update a series is more glorified than the scanlators themselves.

The scanlators are not vital to the site.
They can scanlate now and then. Nobody cares
if they don't release stuff at all times, but if nobody keeps
the site up, well, that's a retardation in the database,
which this site aims to be. If there're no releases, then
it's not the site's fault. If the releases aren't shown in
the releases section after they have been released,
then the site is lacking.
The site may not lack.

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time I have to disagree. If the scanlators don't scanlate then there is nothing for the updaters to report on. And yes, the updaters are vital to this site - but without the scanlators (which this site also supports and needs) there would be nothing for the updaters to update on.
Plus this site puts scanlators above updaters evident by the fact that there is a direct link and list for all the scanlators (as shown in the right list of links) but there isn't one for the updaters. If this site truly put their updaters first, then why doesn't the updaters have their own direct link and list? Probably because less people would be interested in who updated the scanlation release as to where they could get said release, right? So, then that shows that scanlators are not only more important to this site but also to the people who visit this site.
But in the end it's a t-shirt that I haven't contributed to, so I really don't have room to gripe.

Maybe because the updaters are more likely to be the ones wearing the shirt in the first place rather than the scanlators?

The site is for updating.
If it doesn't have the updates of the new releases, that equals negative.
If it doesn't have anything to update, meaning there just hasn't been any releases (like groups saving up for a christmas blast or something) then it is just a 0.
If there has been nothing new, the site isn't lacking at what it is for,
the stream of commodity isn't just that good.
If nobody scanlates for a few days, no bid deal.
If people aren't able to mark the released chapters
for a few days — uhhoh, admins and mods are going
to sweat a bit. After all, this site is not responsible of downloads
and such. Just the information.

There's no updater tab since it is equally relevant
as the wind speed during the latest Naruto release tab
or the type of golf club used by the player whose name day it is
or the RGB mean of black colour of the latest scanlations.
It serves no pragmatic purpose. Surely we could have all
kinds of nice free waterfall screensavers and an arcade,
but they are no necessity.

True, that a scanlators work is more important as that is what an updaters' work is based on but the shirt is for mangaupdates, and the ones who work on the site are the updaters not the scanlators.

My thoughts exactly.
Were it for the scanlation culture,
the list would be something like:

Scanlators
Piratebay
Isohunt
Adobe
Who ever made that crack
Irchighway
Lurk
Mediafire
Megaupload
Torrents

No mods, forumites, admins, lurkers whatsoever.
But it isn't.
