Who is your favorite composer?

I've been reading some manga lately, and the composer mentioned is almost always Chopin. And while Chopin is all well and good, there are so many other composers out there. My favorite is Bach, mostly because the two competing melodies in most of his pieces are the most fun to listen to and play.

This is one of my favorite pieces to play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlpw0qrj3Is
(I couldn't find my other favorite, but its a fugue in f minor)

Any kind really. Most of the stuff that you hear with orchestras can be rearranged so that you can play it on just one instrument anyway. I'm just most familliar with the piano composers...

Also, didn't even see the music section...sorry!

From the modern composers definitely Hans Zimmer - epic composer, made the music for countless movies (The Rock; Pirates of the Caribbean; Black Hawk Down e.t).
And second would be Andrew Lloyd Webber, if you don't know him you don't deserve to be reading this tread.

From the classical components there is no one I really like. I have some favorite songs, but that's about it.

It's rather a difficult thing to decide. Depending on my mood, Berlioz, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Dvorak, Schubert or Mendelssohn. Mozart & Beethoven always have a place in my music list.

There are just too many good composers to decide which is best between them (many more than I've listed).

It would be sad, but, say if I was stuck on an island and could only have one composers work for the rest of my life, I'd probably have to choose Beethoven. There are a few of his pieces that I can never get tired of (Symphonies # 3, 7, 9; Piano Sonata #14...), and I think I'd be saddest not being able to hear those again.

Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer, Nobuo Uematsu

As for classical composers, I guess I have to say Bach would be my top choice.

My favourite composers are members of my favourite bands, like Steve Harris or Zakk Wylde biggrin

I like Beethoven, but not enough to be called my favourite though, I don't listen to classical that much, actually my most favourite Beethoven-related stuff is Beethoven's Last Night by Trans Siberian Orchestra. And for film score composer, definitely Alan Silvestri.
