Don't really care... Longer doesn't always mean better, although it would be nice having more pages to read for a series you eagerly wait for every week/month.
Minami-ke is pure laughter at just 8-10 pages and Asano Inio can do wonders with just 18 pages.
Hardly see 45/55+ page chapters... unless it's a one-shot or first chapter of a new Jump series.

40ish pages is sorta standard for monthly shoujo manga anthologies, and that generally gives it time to make the story interesting, I think. Really, I don't have the patience to stick with reading a single chapter of a weekly shounen series at a time (except Sket Dance, because it's fun).
Actually, I most prefer to wait and read manga a whole volume at a time, because it lets me get more into the characters and situation before I'm brought back to the real world by a "to be continued..." It also keeps each chapter in the context of the whole story, so I don't have to try to remember where I left off with the previous chapter. So ~200 pages is my optimal length

I like my chapters to be around 35 pages. Long enough for the plot to advance a little, yet short enough for me to read when I'm tired and can't concentrate very well. 45 pages is really nice if I've been waiting for the chapter to come out for a while, but sometimes it feels like the mangaka tried to artificially lengthen the chapter (quick flashback, useless talking and gags, etc.) so that they can end on a cliffhanger. That leads to a very irritated kana503. Really, the longer the better if it's interesting and I'm not too tired to read a lot.
I hate it when chapters are like 12 pages long (xxxHolic and TRC). I get excited, the suspense is building, and BAM! Yet another cliffhanger for me to agonize over until the next chapter is released.
@lys: I love it when scanlators release an entire volume in HQ on a holiday or something. The only thing is that the last chapter always has a really big cliffhanger. Stupid cliffhangers...I wish the mangaka weren't so good at making those but it reels in the readers.

Longer the better if it is an older manga, that is for the most part released/scanlated.
But if it one where it is being scanlated as it comes out I prefer weekly 18 pages. As I have no patience >_<

Standard Weekly Series. I mean sure if their longer it's gonna take longer to scan/ translate/ clean. And I get impatient for most of the WSJs.

As long as possible as long as quality is not compromised. I hope the whole thing finishes in one chapter, like 9000 pages of manga in one chapter

As long as the chapter doesn't end somewhere to which tempts me to throw something then it's all good.

i kinda hate reading a short chapter... since most of them ends in cliff hanger and i hate having to click some buttons to get to the new chapter... [Cdisplay, ACDsee, Picwalker, etc.] Being a lazy reader myself, aint too fond over that.

18 pages is too short. 55 pages sometimes feels too long. I liked the FMA setup, so I voted for that. It really depends on what kind of story it is. Whatever works works.

Well... For me, about 35 pages is the best! Not too long, not too short. Though having loads of pages to read is really nice too. Like one-shot shoujo manga...
But on another note, I once had a scanlation project with up to 70 pages per chapter O.o... That gave me a real headache... Now I know how freakingly hard it is to scanlate manga, so I don't blame the scanlaters like I used to. Experience really changes one's perspective. But that's off topic... Sorry.
