Sakaino was one of the most depressing thing I've ever read. It started off light-hearted enough, but the last 10-15 chapters felt so twisted and depressing.

The most depressing for me would be Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari and also the sequels after it. I like how the author didn't use any cliche-ness in the manga at all, and it's based on a real life situation. I cried at the ending. I really loved it though, it has many twists of reality involved, and it just goes to show how life can change you. All the characters were really unique and had things about them that you don't really find in a 'typical' manga.

Is Saikano happy ending? Coz I try to not read sad ending manga coz it'll make me depress for years.. but it seems very interesting.

^ The ending is kind of bittersweet, but the journey along the way is pretty bad.

Thirsty For Love by Takaguchi Satosumi and Honami Yukine is pretty depressing. I just bought it recently and wow, it was totally different from what I expected.

I found Mucha Kucha Daisuke (Love You Like Crazy) by Shimaki Ako probably the most depressing. It's certainly not the "saddest" I've ever read, but it's the only one to make me cry.

*starts of with a rant I wonder why some people mentioned death note. Death Note was pretty awesome and it only was kinda sad at the end. But not depressing.
When Kira lost and got beaten by that stupid Near - of course with the help of Mello ... who was somewhat entertaining at least. And after that everything nearly went back to normal.
But it wasn't depressing. As for L's Death.... KATA KEIKAKU DOURI XD! that was one of the most awesome-ish manga scene's.. ends rant*
Really depressing, huh? Well X was at some times, although it got a bit better. I'm not good with Manga that are too depressing all the time, although I have nothing against good drama. Then Gunslinger Girl I guess... and of course: BOKURANO now if that wasn't depressing <.<"""
Some Up&Down-Manga can be like that. Unbalance x Unbalance was somewhat depressing, although it was more the "Oh Fuck..." feeling, where just everything went wrong for the mainpair.
Then Oh!Great's Manga, like Airgear and Tenou Tenge. Those can be awesome and funny, but sometimes it's there those huge fuck ups, which drags you down. Same thing with GTO (and the Violinist of Hameln). It's depressing all the more then, because you just got a high from some momemts earlier which pwned/were totally hillarious, and then shit happens. Same with NHK, which could be funny, but then get really depressing.
...Manga which manage to regulate that up&down very well, tend to be the most pwnsome ones. Just too depressing tend to be just that. And I don't want to read stories to be depressed, no thanks. Drama, excitement and entertaining up&downs, which have both depress and relief, are those really worthwhile.
Blah, Bradherley's Coach has only bad endings. 😔
