*starts of with a rant I wonder why some people mentioned death note. Death Note was pretty awesome and it only was kinda sad at the end. But not depressing.
When Kira lost and got beaten by that stupid Near - of course with the help of Mello ... who was somewhat entertaining at least. And after that everything nearly went back to normal.
But it wasn't depressing. As for L's Death.... KATA KEIKAKU DOURI XD! that was one of the most awesome-ish manga scene's.. ends rant*
I'm pretty sure Death Note is sad because so many people died.
And a lot of them died and didn't really help to the eventual capture/death of Light. I think the Anime ending was a lot sadder. Mostly because of how callous Ryuk was about how "it was pretty fun while it lasted" before just writing his name down. Without a second thought. It just made Light's purpose completely meaningless.
Anyways. I've got to say Death Note is one of the saddest manga I have read. Right next to Tokyo Babylon
Gunslinger Girl definitely. An awesome manga also.

Forever Honey, although it's not depressing but really really sad. I've read it a lot of times and I can still cry in the end. Depressing manga? um I dunno. Don't remember any. 😕

First of all i'd like to tell all the people who were talking about the fight scenes from DBZ to go ...k themselves it's a kids show for christsake if you wanted blood and gore to fly you shouldn't be watching it anyway 😉
ok well that mighta been to mean, but stop spoilin my childhood
:-(
Well anyway if you can't tell i love DBZ so one of the most depressing sene to me is when Goku dies after Cell, I knew he was coming back but I was still crying
The end of Diablo got me bad, I mean i knew it would be depressing but then it was like .... damn
Also the end of the FMA animu, I didn't even know that it was over till my friend told me
As far as Berserk and Elfin Lied and Saikono go I just didn't care about the characters enough to be depressed.
But what depresses me the most is reading something where the characters lives seem really awesome and mine is just like DERP.

Nana is definitely depressing, but so... real. It's that real life depression thing that hits home more than anything, really.
Mucha Kucha Daisuki is depressing
at the end, when the leading girl dies. I cried so hard, it made me sad that bad things like that happen to such good people, which it could
even though the girl is super stupid, it's still really good.
That's all I got for now. 😀

- Since I've only read 4(?) volumes I don't know how it will go but I know it's going to be getting more depressing for a while. Hopefully the end won't be suicide.
I have to second that. It's the most depressing that I've read until now.

I'll second this one. It was at least the saddest I've read.
Tree + Taco = Tree taco.
I don't know if this has been said already (I'm not looking through 21 freakin' pages), but Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari had me crying at the end.
And then there was this one about a girl who was a partier, and she got a disease so she was hospital-bound and nobody cared about her except this plain girl who remembered her as the only one who went to her birthday party or something.
I dunno. I guess reading about hookers seeing the light makes me all teary-eyed or something. XD
Edit: Darn. It seems I was beaten to it a few posts up. Oh well, my post is more interesting. D:
