[quote]so wat ur saying is killing innocent citizen to save u.s. soldier's life is right? sometimes i found the war to be extremely unfair and during the war versus WWII agaisnt Japan. U.S. broke inifinte number of laws against humantiy including attacks on citizen which were banned from warfare
the whole thing i dont get is y does u.s. bomb its japanese citizens while japanese only targeted u.s. military base[quote]
A little late but anyways Japan killed over 23Million ethnic chinese, indians, australians, american pows from the onset of their invasion of manchuria. They resorted to tortures and cruelties that make even what the Nazi's did to the Jews pale in comparison go google " Japanese Unit 731" or check google japanese war atrocities. Hitler killed 6million jews but Japan killed 23MILLION+ civilians. In my opinion the nukes were not only needed but it was lucky that japan acually surrendered because of them. It would of cost nearly 1 million american lives to invade japans mainland and over 15-20 million japanese would of died.

Uta-Kata (everyone & thing sacrificing themselves), Brother Dear Brother, Devilman Lady and Hitsuji no Uta or Lament of the Lamb (I don't know if the manga and the anime follow each other on these two, I only got to see the animes), I agree with everyone on Saikano. Wow, I can't think of too many off hand because their story should set you up that it isn't going to end well, its the ones that take you over the edge (even if you know what is coming), like NGE, to me Serial Experiments Lain (didn't get to read the manga & its been years since I watched it, I have rent it again but the 1st time I saw it, it was very sad to me).

And Deep Love: Ayu's story that whole series is horribly sad.
I'm going to go with Tokyo Babylon and X/1999, I know it's who manga, and one is as of yet unfinished, but it's the same story line continuum. Subaru in particular was just as depressing a character as I've ever seen, and he was by no means the only tragic character in this series.

damn I hated Saikano. what a freaking horribly depressing series. I can't believe i wasted my time with it.
Saikano just destroys you as you read further. Tries to, at least.

I've only seen the anime but its pretty depressing. I'd also recommend Elfen Lied and ES.
