I haven't and don't intend to. Simply put, I think my body works better if I keep my blood inside of it...

Not really. In the long run your body will profit more from producing new fresh blood once in a while.
Quote from QuasarX
...and I see no point in giving it away to people I don't know, especially when those people might then go on to do things I wouldn't approve of.

Consider that even your acquaintances, friends and family may get into the need for a blood transfusion and if the hospital happens to be out of blood they will be just as screwed as the people you don't care about.
Quote from QuasarX
Besides, I don't regard death as something to be feared or postponed, as many people seem to. As far as I'm concerned, death is just a necessary part of life. We literally couldn't live without it.

While it's true that death is necessary and not fearing the inevitable is wise, there's nothing wrong with postponing death for as long as possible. Lifetime, being limited, is valuable and thus to preserve. You probably don't disapprove of breathing and eating, which is postponing death on a daily basis. Blood transfusions are the same, just not as established.

Only once which is last year during a blood donation campaign...its pretty normal and nothing unusual happen. But the officer said that I have a negative rhesus, so I should try to donate blood as many time I can since my type of blood is really minimum.
But, if there is another campaign wherever I go, I would donate. But, I don't go to hospital just to donate blood(I'm pretty lazy).

neverrrrrr
i well never ever donate blood.
why?
because: they have to get it out if my wrist, not in the elbow thing what's it called like it's usually done
i hate the sight of my own blood (yeah, i can see other people's blood and don't flinch, but when I see mine I get grossed out)
and i'm too selfish for it.

I'm planning on donating myself, but I'll have to wait a little longer since I've had a vaccination a while ago. Needles have never been a problem for me, but hearing that it's a 'large' gauge needle kind of freaks me out... Anyhow, if I do pass all the requirements, I plan on giving regularly.

I was wondering can you contact them later on to check what blood type you are / do they carry out the blood test prior to the donation?

If I were allowed to, I would donate, but I have to wait till I'm 18.

Don't know about other blood donor services, but the red cross/red crescent will provide you with a blood donation card, containing your blood type, rhesus factor, etc. shortly after your first donation. After three donations they also sent me a detailed analysis of all my blood levels, nice to know.
They do draw a tiny drop of blood for testing before the donation, though it's only to check on your hemoglobin level. So if you really absolutely have to know your blood type before your first donation, you will have to get it checked yourself.

@ Dissidence
Cool, thanks^^ It's just out of curiosity more than anything.

Your blood will replenish itself anyway so why not give it away to those in need? Plus, who are we to judge whether someone 'deserves' blood transfusion or not? It's nice to know you're doing a good deed after all. (What I don't understand is the whole Jehovah's Witness thing...)

Not only am I O Negative, I'm also CMV negative. The CMV virus is a small virus that the vast majority of people get while growing up. Most don't even notice. CMV negative blood is donated almost solely to premature babies.

After hearing that, how can I NOT donate? >_< My iron is low a lot of the time, so I can't donate as often as I'd like, but I try to donate whenever I have the opportunity. I usually feel sick and sometimes almost pass out, but I figure it's probably all right, since the people who will receive donated blood are in much worse shape than I would ever be.
